After getting off the train in Oamaru we needed somewhere close by to fill our famished tummies. Spotting Midori on the corner we went in for a looksee. We had a look at the menu first before deciding to grab some of their already made up sushi boxes. Price wise they were about what I'd normally pay if not a... More

As I have been heard the food is good at Midiri maybe i had too high expectation?? Prawns are very noticable they were from frozen package , chicken was super dry. Menu said "traditional japanese dish" as far as i know Japanese cusine is far nicer than Midori's standard. What a shame . Below than average

Our family of 4 went to Midori for tea. The waitress pointed out our table rather than taking us to our seats. The table had not been properly cleaned as we could tell the soy sauce etc had not been moved so the table could be wiped. We had sushi for an entrée to share but we weren't given individual... The restaurant is small and very cute, they have some interesting takes on the usual dishes. Not cheap, but the food is simply delicious!

I dropped in to Midori before heading off to work one evening and was a bit gutted that there was no pre-made sushi that I could have, I was about to leave when the lady behind the counter assured me that she could make me some sushi in no time. I was a bit anxious as I was already running... More

Got a takeaway dinner here and it was great. Japanese is a favourite and Midori rates right up at the top for flavour. Service could have been a little more upbeat

We are big fans of Midori and have been regulars for a couple of years now. Great for lunch, dinner or to take away, the food has never let us down and the service is usually prompt and with a smile but the staff turn over is high so service has sometimes been irregular but we have still never had... Visited there couple of month ago with 3 other people. Service was average and not friendly, did not get a smile. Food was the worst I ever had. my friends ordered bento box - karaage, katsu and deluxe. miso soup came first and it was only half full and barely anything inside. all of the main meals were extremely over... Dear reviewer Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for your experience at Midori 3 months ago. It's disappointing to hear that you felt we don't make our food fresh and authentic. This restaurant is in a run down part of the town and is very simple in appearance however the food was really good, lots of flavour and good portions. The waitress seemed more interested in her boyfriend however she was friendly enough and our service was okay.
