My wife and I decided to try Maddigans as a result of feedback from our friends

We had a single serve of fish and chips which was more than enough for 2 people it was freshly cooked and well presented. We walked over the road and consumed it by the sea how good is that?

This is a fish and chip shop on the Esplanade with outside table and chairs, nothing special in that but what is special is the food. When it comes to seafood Fresh is good and Maddigan's is the best in the bay with good portions. I have been many times and have never been disappointed.

Forget ambiance, forget street appeal, forget table service. If you are offended by a very loud voiced women screaming "NUMBER 201!!!" in your ear as you stand at the counter waiting to be chosen to give your order, then stay clear. This is a fish and chip shop the way they used to be. No frills, just good old fashioned... More

If you haven't been before, don't expect them to be patient and answer any questions. She was too busy flirting with her girlfriend and didn't want to be bothered. And she charged me too much and when I tried to ask I got attitude. The fish and chips aren't so good I could over look the lack of care.

My husband and I took a drive up from Brisbane to visit Hervey Bay. We found Maddigan's with the best reviews, and we were not disappointed. The calamari were perfect, not stringy like so many places we've tired, my husband always orders a locally caught fish and his was very tender and delicious. The chips are never the best, but... I ordered crumbed sweetlip, potatoe scallops, crumbed scallops and as a rare treat..my favourite bugs. The fish was dry and tasteless. Potatoe scallops ok. The crumbed scallops were good. The bugs were an extreme dissapointment. Bugs are a delictable rare treat for me and i have to say i was not happy. They were completely tasteless and were watery from... More

Nice selection of fresh seafood to choose from, cooked how you like it. Generous portions and great hot chips. Take away to the park opposite and enjoy.

After reading mixed reviews about this place, we thought to try it anyways. We received excellent service-very quick to take our order and also to make it. The battered fish was very tasty but I'm afraid that's where the quality of the food ends. The chips were very soggy, and the calamari were the same. You could really taste the... More

This place has an amazingly tender hand of squid. We have never tried squid as tender. It actually is like a hand with fingers. Their fish was very fresh and you get what you ask for. All their seafood is on display and their prices are good for fresh or cooked. 10/10

You have this wonderful window of all the fish/crustaceans/calamari etc & just point to what you want, they give you a ticket & you wait while it's cooked right there. Yum - the best calamari I've ever had.
