This is one of the better fish and chip shop in town. They do have a good selection of locally caught fresh fish to choose from. Cooking of said seafood can sometimes be a hit and miss, sometimes it can be over cooked and dry, but in general is good. They are generous with their portions however and it's location... More

Food was average at best, which was unexpected considering the queue we waited in to get it. It was ok, just not what we thought as everyone raved over it. The prawn cutlets wee the worst I've ever eaten, they were heavily battered and had no flavour. Chips were not at all seasoned and the snapper we had was overcooked....... More

Being a regular holiday maker to Hervey Bay we stop in here regularly. Today we purchased scallops, flake, chips, seafood sticks, dim sims & potato scallops. The 3 scallops were all raw & I was almost sick with what was in my mouth when I reaised it tasted too fishy & felt wrong :( The seafood sticks were not hot... More

We had a single serve of fish and chips which was more than enough for 2 people it was freshly cooked and well presented. We walked over the road and consumed it by the sea how good is that?

This is a fish and chip shop on the Esplanade with outside table and chairs, nothing special in that but what is special is the food. When it comes to seafood Fresh is good and Maddigan's is the best in the bay with good portions. I have been many times and have never been disappointed.

Forget ambiance, forget street appeal, forget table service. If you are offended by a very loud voiced women screaming "NUMBER 201!!!" in your ear as you stand at the counter waiting to be chosen to give your order, then stay clear. This is a fish and chip shop the way they used to be. No frills, just good old fashioned... More

If you haven't been before, don't expect them to be patient and answer any questions. She was too busy flirting with her girlfriend and didn't want to be bothered. And she charged me too much and when I tried to ask I got attitude. The fish and chips aren't so good I could over look the lack of care.

My husband and I took a drive up from Brisbane to visit Hervey Bay. We found Maddigan's with the best reviews, and we were not disappointed. The calamari were perfect, not stringy like so many places we've tired, my husband always orders a locally caught fish and his was very tender and delicious. The chips are never the best, but... I ordered crumbed sweetlip, potatoe scallops, crumbed scallops and as a rare treat..my favourite bugs. The fish was dry and tasteless. Potatoe scallops ok. The crumbed scallops were good. The bugs were an extreme dissapointment. Bugs are a delictable rare treat for me and i have to say i was not happy. They were completely tasteless and were watery from... More
