Still as good as ever - a favourite

We were introduced to the BBQ Kiosk a couple of years ago by some German tourists staying with us. Following an initial visit fell in love with their simple well priced NZ seafood. Back in Kaikoura for a visit - so off to the Kiosk for lunch. Packed with touristsand locals as usual - this didn't... read more

We bought whitebait and crayfish fritters at 11am from here as well as a takeaway whole cooked crayfish for just $53. We took it away cold intending to eat it for dinner, it made it down the road about 200 meters where we parked and devoured the whole thing between the two of us. Excellent.........highly recommended!

We had seafood platter. Expected something very good based on our great seafood experiences in Blenheim. Got a platter of very mediocre seafood. We did not try their crayfish (lobster) because they were priced very high. We took seafood back to our apartment and ate it. Expected great seafood in Kaikoura and very frustrating to get average to less than... More

This was the first time any of us had tried crayfish so don't have much to compare to but it was very nice. Served with plain rice and salad (this was my only grumble that after paying $50 for the crayfish we were only given a very small portion of rice). Enjoyed eating on the seafront. Lots of other people... More

Seafood chowder probably the worst I have ever tasted. For $5.00 you can't expect too much. I would rather pay a higher price for something more palatable. Paua fitter pretty ordinary, (I do not know what all the hype is about with this seafood. Fish at the local fish shop a much better choice in my opinion.

I drove all the way round the point to this beachside caravan to be dissapointed. The worst seafood chowder I've ever had. I would be embarressed to call that seafood chowder. It was dishwater with a few miniscule bits of (I guess seafood) floating around. Scallops were good but served with rice and a salad with no dressing. Dont waste... More

I had high hopes for this place as it was well-recommended. Perhaps it was our meal choices but we were not impressed. We got some take away; I had the paua fritter and my spouse had some of the grilled fish; both served with some very plain rice and a large chunk of lettuce with some capsicum and tomato bits... This place was humming with tourists all wanting a taste of Kaikoura's finest seafood. We were after crayfish for our Italian visitor to sample. After choosing our own we were served up a feast. It was great to mingle with the many different nationalities present, all having a great experience!

We recommend this local fresh crayfish cooked on bbq served with a little salad and any other seafood delight of your choice, I had crayfish patties very nice. It's a little road side van Ocean views on one side farming on the other. Enjoy the walk along the beach from the township of Kiakora We loved it

Yummy cray, scallops and mussel fritters! Good prices on the cray. Cool setting being by the beach, we had a couple of nice cold beers that we brought along and enjoyed our meal. Was definitely worth the stop.
