My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here, although the service was a bit slow. We ordered the seafood platter to share. We asked if we could add crayfish to the seafood platter (which was an item on the lunch menu but not the dinner menu). We were told we could but the crayfish would be charged as a... More

My friend and I went for lunch while visiting Kaikoura. We sat in the pub section but in a side room since all the tables in the main room were taken. There wasn't much of an atmosphere in the side room, but maybe it was just because it was the middle of the afternoon (though it was a holiday). The... More

We ate dinner here. My husband had lobster and I had salmon. They were very accommodating re my diet restrictions. The dining area is divided. On the night we were there, a function was going on so we ate in a side room. No problems there. It was quaint, with a fireplace and lots of windows to enjoy the outside... More

Highly recommend stopping by the Peir Hotel for a crayfish meal. The setting is awesome, bbq picnic tables with umbrellas on the water side, cool secure playground on the hotel side with tables near by if your have kiddies. I really enjoyed the cray here, served w garlic butter, salad and chunky chips for $36! Very good price for a... More

We were recommended to try the Pier Hotel's crayfish so decided to give it a try. After what proved to be a longer walk than expected we arrived to be told they were fully booked. It may have been the look of dismay on our faces, but after some deliberation, the very helpful staff managed to find us a table.... More

Booked a table as it was very busy a got a nice table with a view. Had the rock lobster and it was filling and well cooked. The beers were good and there was an excellent variety to choose from.

We wanted to have fresh crayfish while we were in Kaikoura and decided to check in one of the eating places on West End to see if they were available. Thankfully the owner of the Craypot Cafe was a real gem. He told us that it's near the end of the season for crayfish and that only The Pier and... More

Simple fresh food done well, good service, and if you sit outside you look out over the bay and mountains while having your meal. Plus a little playground to keep the little ones entertained. What more to say? Book ahead if you can - we tried three different times before we got a table.

Inside and outside seating. Busy pub/ restaurant, with the best views in town. Excellent crayfish dinner.
