Love the food & the view.

My favourite restaurant. We always book early and ask for a table at the window. It's an old building with a great history. Food is great I had Kumara Croquettes for entree and the Rolled Pork. for a main. Beautifully cooked and the accompanying salad was delicious.

This establishment was recommended by our hotel. They raved about it. We arrived only to be told there would be an hour wait by a surly young waitress. Fair enough but there was a vacant table in the dining room. When we returned ,we were led to our table and sat perched on bar stools near the door. When we... More

We booked a table by the window, which gave a fabulous view of the sunset over the mountains and water. The location is really something special. The décor is a pub, which is friendly rather than sophisticated. The food came in very generous portions and hence we did not need multiple courses. It was tasty and satisfying - not really... More

Pier Hotel offers very good food and a nice view over the bay, one of the best restaurants in town. We had the steak and lamb, both were very high quality and had generous portions. It was a Monday in winter and off season but it was still popular and had great service. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, decorated... More

Delicious food and lovely chatty wait staff. Essentially a pub which does good food, but has a lovely community feel. Would highly recommend the white bait, and the lamb shank.

We got a great table looking out the window at the harbor which made eating our seafood platter that much more special. They had mussels prepared two different ways and they were the best we have had so far.

We'd had this restaurant recommended but it was disappointing. The bread that came with my soup had been nuked in the microwave and was rubbery. I asked if I could have some either fresh or toasted. They brought me plain bread but it was stale. Surely lovely fresh bread is one of the easiest things to get right in a... More

My hubby had the crayfish soup, my 9 year old ate the entre bowl of green mussels (quite a large portion) and I took half a crayfish. The bill came to NZD88 with drinks, very reasonable and the food and ambience was great.
