Stunning Location - Good food

We were staying down the road from the The Pier and decided to walk down for a beer while watching the sunset. Breathtaking scenery. We stayed for dinner and had the Lamb and Pork. While staying in Kaikoura we called in for lunch at this old pub with a charming interior. .A nice selection of lunches were on the menu. The service was very good, cheerful and friendly and delivery of the lunch without any delay. Nice food with great taste. My wife had a salmon penne pasta and I had an open steak... More

While in Kaikoura I decided I wanted to try the famous Crayfish. After looking online I decided to go with The Pier and I was not disappointed. The dinning room was very comfortable and homey - just the right size and right along the waterfront. Our waitress was superb. Incredibly friendly and helpful. My sister has many allergies, including gluten... More

Very good food, lovely location. If you dine in for dinner, eat on the restaurant side, not the pub, as you tend to get forgotten on the pub side (which isnt bad with a full pint). The best chowder I have had, and great desserts too!

I had the pleasure of dining at the pier hotel and was treated to exceptional service and delicious food. I have celiac disease and a few other food allergies and intolerances and they were incredibly considerate of this. They were able to alter an entire meal to make it something I could eat, even though there were other options for... More

We enjoyed the 1/2 crayfish and seafood selection to share and it was perfect for the two of us - generous enough to be filling but not over the top. The crayfish was cooked beautifully! The staff were also really friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Had this hotel recommended to us by a lady at the BP service station here, for the best seafood and service with a beautiful view of the bay & hills makes a perfect backdrop, drive right through the busy main area of town, to the peaceful setting at the end of the road for a mouthwatering lobster fresh from the... We enjoyed the specialty of the house - crayfish, along with a super fresh and generous seafood chowder. An entree of Pumpkin and Kumara patties with satay sauce was delicious. Great views!
