Monday 11 August 2014. I ordered the Groper with Lemon butter sauce served with roasties and freshly cooked vegetables, with a price tag of $34.50, initially thinking this was a bit on the high side, however this would have been one of the most tastiest, yummiest meals I have ever had, and worth every cent.. The young lady behind the... More

The crabfish/NZ rock lobster(half) is definitely the best meal for us in NZ. Fresh and nature taste, we tried to "dismantle" them eat them up while they are still warm. the fries in the set are delicious too. The seafood chowder is a must-try too!( I strongly recommend that you share the chowder with others because the crabfish set almost... More

We arrived after dark after a day in transit. The welcome was warn, the chowder, mussels and steak were delicious and an after dinner drink in the bar, whilst doing nothing to cure my ignorance of rugby, did reveal the locals' passion for the game. A lovely pub.

We had a fabulous meal - started with the nz whitebait and the dips and bread. Between us we had the pasta, lamb loin, steak and chicken parmigiana - all we're fabulous. Our only comment would bd that the mains are huge - you don't need the starters!

Well let's just say the cray half for $ 35 is a reasonable deal. The portions of salad and fries were great. Outside dining in ths special place superb. I did a fair bit of research and a local recommended this place and town prices way to high. I know crayfish is expensive bug as a nz it's hard to... More

Located on the way to the seal colony the pier has a wonderful sea view and great sunset. Hardly any cars drive in front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is cosy - both inside and outside. Make sure you book in advance - it gets busy during the night. Prices are NZ level. Fresh seafood and decent portions.

The Pier is out of town but worth the effort. We sat having a drink, people-watching and taking in the rugger on the TV while waiting for a table to become free and there seemed to be quite a few locals in there as well as visitors. The ambience is very appealing. The food is good too: we shared a... More
