Ive just arrived home from another wonderful trip to NZ..I was prompted to write this just to update anyone interested in the Jacksons Historic Hotel. We dropped into this place when driving from Christchurch to Hokitika while on our annual ski trip last year and it was awful. When we first saw the Hotel it looked really cute and nice and... More

Group of older women from a walking group had their pre Christmas outing for lunch at the tavern. We were all impressed by the very friendly and efficient service and the great food. Several of us bought the pies made at the tavern to take home for future meals.A very minor mistake was made in our order which did not... More

Staff were unwilling to accomadate client with food allergies and then yelled at the party of 6 to get out, after supplying rhe meal ladened with allegy producing items. Poor service, very cold. and What resturant staff (unless Gorden Ramsay) would yell at the food critics ie the clients. Will never go back again. The only good part was the young... More

Service wasn't great and they brought the wrong food. I ordered chicken burger and they brought a beef burger. The food also wasn't great which is a shame as the hotel-bar itself is charming and the view over the valley is great.

About 1 hour from Greymouth and 2 hours from Christchurch, the Jackson's Tavern is a place you must stop for a rest. The staff are wonderful and friendly. The amenities are spotless. The food is wonderful and the drinks are cold. The view from our window table was awesome, looking across the road and down into the valley. Great atmosphere... More

Took the bikes ride up to the tavern for a quick drink, what a surprise. If had been there another day would have gone again and had a meal, it looked good value.

The revamped Jackson's Tavern created a nice 'historic' looking West Coast environment with good pub food when it originally reopened. Sadly it has gone downhill over the years and turns out rather unappetizing stodge these days. A shame as it did and could do better and provides a good stopp off for coast to coast travelers...

Jackson's Tavern is a fantastic place for a cozy meal on the way. It's beautifully decorated and has a lovely atmosphere. You could have great food at very low prices.

The rustic decor and the authentic wild west feel of this place is a rare thing in a New Zealand pub these days and well worth stopping off for. The beer is good too...all they need to do is step up a wee bit with the food and Jacksons would be truly great ! As it is, the asian pork... More

The pub is located next to the road towards Arthur’s Pass in a place which is named Jacksons on the map but not really a town at all. I had dinner there, and breakfast on the next day. The menu is typical pub food. I had fish and chips which was nice, nothing special but freshly prepared and the serving... More
