We ate here on a Wednesday night and had a great time. This was our third visit and each time the service has been wonderful and the food delicious. The restaurant is small, so I'd recommend booking. We had salmon and squid for starters and lamb and pork for our main, we loved them. No room for dessert, although I... More

We do not regularly go out for dinner but on special occasions we will choose from a small selection in Whangarei and Tonic is a favourite. This place is consistently good. Never disappoints. The food is a cut above - really delicious food, beautifully presented. The location is in the suburbs and easy to locate and find parking. I like... More

Hidden away on the outskirts of Whangarei this restaurant is simply superb. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambience was classy without being stuffy or snobby. The meals we had were just outstanding. The mussel emulsion on the fish was tasty and full of complex flavours. It's unusual these days to have bread provided free with meals. This was... More

The restaurant is small so I would definitely recommend you book. The staff was friendly, presentation of food was top notch and absolutely delicious to eat - could not find any fault. Keep up the good work guys! You rock! Will definitely be back again when in Whangarei.

My daughter gave me a gift voucher for dinner for two, the degustation menu, at Tonic. It was a fabulous meal, and a very thoughtful gift. I really enjoyed the meal, as did my partner. We are not really "foodies" and not big fans of beautifully arranged bits of nothing much on over-sized plates. We came away from Tonic feeling... More

My favourite restaurant in Whangarei. We have eaten here on numerous occasions and cannot fault the food or service. First recommendation for good food in Northland.
