A Birthday celebration

Seven of us went here to celebrate a birthday and we certainly were not disappointed. Although small it is a great restaurant with wonderful food great service and a must visit when in Whangarei.

The restaurant is small so I would definitely recommend you book. The staff was friendly, presentation of food was top notch and absolutely delicious to eat - could not find any fault. Keep up the good work guys! You rock! Will definitely be back again when in Whangarei.

My daughter gave me a gift voucher for dinner for two, the degustation menu, at Tonic. It was a fabulous meal, and a very thoughtful gift. I really enjoyed the meal, as did my partner. We are not really "foodies" and not big fans of beautifully arranged bits of nothing much on over-sized plates. We came away from Tonic feeling... More

My favourite restaurant in Whangarei. We have eaten here on numerous occasions and cannot fault the food or service. First recommendation for good food in Northland.

Well patronised by locals, this small but perfectly formed restaurant isn't in Whangarei's CBD but still isn't too far off the beaten track - though you may not expect to find such a great eating establishment in a wee block of suburban shops. Tonic has been going now for many years, having toughed it out through many times of local,... More

Excellent food and great atmosphere Make this a great choice. Don't miss the risotto or the liquorice ice cream.

We have dined here once or twice before, tonight were able to fit it in again on our return from Auckland. Service was efficient & reliable by one very proficient waiter, I had a seafood entrée & fish main, Both were highly rated. My husband had a goats cheese tart & eye fillet steak, again both were well presented &... More

We have had dinner at Tonic on several occasions; romantic anniversary meal as well as family dinners with teenagers. They stagger reservation times so you are well attended to on arrival. Service is prompt and professional. The food is very nice indeed and there was ample choice for all of us to find things we wanted to try. Everything is... More
