Consistently great. Great service, great foods. Dolmades to die for. We recommend highly. Really busy every time we go.

Ill be honest, I was a little unsure about visiting. However, on the strength of the other reviews I thought why not. The food was okay, freshly prepared, nice selection of dips, etc. The service was good and very friendly. The bottom line the food wasn't my cup of tea...sorry

Went for anniversary dinner. Really good food for those with an exotic palate, and chips for the less adventurous... Good wine, limited choice of beers but the atmosphere made up for it!

Cool and casual atmosphere, you almost feel like you are in Israel. Lovely hosts and great Israeli fare at a good price. This restaurant is a point of difference in a quaint area of Whangarei City.

Finding myself with three hours to kill in central Whangarei I wandered around town before deciding to return to the Fat Camel which I'd passed earlier. I'd never been there before and I was in a mood to try somewhere different. It was mid morning and I wanted somewhere pleasant to sit and watch the world go by as much... More

We get takeaways here most weeks, the standard is always good and there's a good variety of options to choose from. Always busy in the weekends so allow a little longer to get your order, but you wont be dissapointed with the food. My favourite is always the mixed salad plate, the pickle platter is good to. The other half... More

This is a pleasant place to spend an evening.the food is good and there is a reasonable choice with some Israeli specialties not often seen. The night we were there the service was a bit patchy, and while I applaud their social responsibility in serving low alcohol wine,I would have appreciated being informed first (there is no wine list, just a... Loved the coffee and food here and being set in the lovely Quality Street arcade makes it even nicer.

The Camel's high rating is justly deserved. It's usually always open. That in itself,is a stand out attribute for Whangarei. The unique menu is good, the service is brisk, and the coffee is maybe the best in town, We have been going for years and they dont seem to have any bad days. It's consistently good.

I love all the restaurants to choose from, in Quality Street in Whangarei. The Fat Camel has incredibly tasty dishes! Excellent value for money. We went with our 1 year old for dinner on a Friday night. Service was friendly, fast & efficient. A lovely atmosphere. The fantastic tastes in our dishes took me back to my 10 years living... More
