In LOVE with the fat camel! You probably won't find anywhere else in town with staff so friendly & food so yummy! Sometimes I just sit there for hours on end eating/drinking/chatting. 100% guarantee you will love this place & they will make you feel very welcome. I am an adult but get the kids grilled chicken meal and it... More

Good selection of authentic food at reasonable prices. Don't look for Quality st mall as it isn't on many maps, but down only alley off that part of Cameron st.

Well known and recommended by locals. Interesting meals and menu at very good prices. Lots of healthy menu options with salads served with all meals. The Pita Pockets took our fancy. They were so delicious we went back 4 times during our stay in Whangarei and we weren't disappointed. The staff were great and café is situated in a quaint... More

Have been here many times. The food is great as is the coffee. Staff generally friendly and helpful ( but this does vary as many casual and seasonal staff}. Value for money this place is the beast for lunch or diner. love the atmosphere and the many different people that eat here make it a really great place to go

I ate at this restaurant regularly during my stay in town simply because each time I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. From the yummy cuisine, to the friendly staff, to being able to grab a coffee or takeaway whilst passing, this cafe never failed me. I can't think there's anything more I would wish for from a cafe and only hope... More

Fat Camel is great for a quick bite to eat for lunch, dinner before a movie or casual dinner with family or friends. The staff are very accommodating and friendly and they welcome children. I have tried most things on the menu and you do get good value for money. A pita cost between $ 8-10 roughly. I would recommend... More

Ordered 2 pieces of baklava to takeaway. No price was visible, and silly me, i didn't inquire first. We were charged $10.00 for 2 pieces, placed in a brown paper bag, not even any cream. At $5.00 a piece for takeaway this is a huge rip off. Too make matters worse, they were soggy and not fresh. They had taken... More

This small restaurant situated in the quaint Quality street sells delicious middle eastern food. I recommend it as a place for a quick cheap eat rather than a special night out kind of place i.e. great for grabbing a bite to eat for lunch or before the movies etc. I'm a repeat customer and think the pitas are great value... We went here for lunch as it always looks busy and has so many good reviews. The staff were friendly and the service was fine. Long time since I have eaten eastern Mediterranean and I was really looking forward to it. Menu looked fab and the tables and counters looked clean. When we had ordered I looked down and noticed... Like the title said, maybe it was just me, but I did not enjoy their food. I ordered their chicken main (about $19.00) and the staffs are very lovely. I couldn't fault them. I asked for their recommendations and they said I should try this chicken main. It comes with yellow rice and lots of various vegetables in a sour... More
