Great food at reasonable prices.

I recently had lunch at the Fat Camel and thoroughly enjoyed the food - it's great to have a restaurant like this in Whangarei, as the food is so different (and healthy too!) There are plenty of delicious dishes to choose from and staff are very friendly. My only criticism is that it is very... read more

I have been here a number of times. I found it when I was working near by and needed coffee. The coffee was great and the good looked good to so I came back for lunch. I sometimes drive up from auckland just for coffee and lunch. The food is that good. Great fresh tastes and good flavor.

One thing we do miss about not living in Sydney any longer is access to top-quality Middle East food other than cooking it at home. However, The Fat Camel is a pleasant surprise in Whangarei and an exotic option for those familiar with or wanting to try what are generally extremely nutritious and healthy options from the Middle East cuisine... Apart from a lovely pita bread filled with the normal Jewish delicacies, e.g. falafel, the Fat Camel’s cuppa was outstanding. We had their Chai Latte and the cream was just divine! Regalia from the Holy Land made the occasion even more special – highly recommended!!!

Three Greypower and one well travelled 50 something, I had been given the task of choosing where to eat and decided that Fat Camel sounded interesting and good value. Right on both counts, Warm night so outside table was great. The staff were very promp without being pushy and explained the menu and made a few suggestions to help us... More

Ill be honest, I was a little unsure about visiting. However, on the strength of the other reviews I thought why not. The food was okay, freshly prepared, nice selection of dips, etc. The service was good and very friendly. The bottom line the food wasn't my cup of tea...sorry

Went for anniversary dinner. Really good food for those with an exotic palate, and chips for the less adventurous... Good wine, limited choice of beers but the atmosphere made up for it!
