Waiomu Beach Cafe has been the 'jewel in the crown' of the coast road between Thames and Coromandel for some years now. Owner Julie serves great, imaginative food, makes sure her staff look after us beautifully and their coffee is excellent along with the summer ice creams. Always good for a visit, the location is almost as good as the... More

A lovely place to grab a good coffee & a delicious homemade ginger crunch, we often pop in here after Kindi, the kids love it & so do we. Friendly staff & great spot opposite the park & beach

As an old Thames'ite it was great to be here with friends and see that the coast now has a cool cafe at Waiomu. The waitress had an amazing memory for our orders and the food was good. The menu was delightfully different to most cafe fare and we enjoyed this.

Colourful in style and service we stopped on a cold and drizzly day for a spot of lunch. We decided to tough it out and sit at one of the outside tables overlooking reserve opposite. The staff offered us inside table but when we demurred they brought Jane an outdoor blanket to ward off cool sea breeze. Jane's Bubble and... More

If you were ever wanting to teach your staff, how not to run a café, this is where you would take them. I cannot believe that this place gets a health certificate with food on open display where customers can handle sneeze and cough over. Check out the photos on this web site. The staff uniforms are grubby, along with... More

This is the place to go on a beautiful day. You can sit outside and enjoy the view of the water. The food is average - I had a mushroom soup but did not enjoy it much.

We stopped here for lunch en route to Coromandel and were pleased we did. There is an outdoor area looking over the grassy domain out to sea, and a quirky bach-like building adjacent with tables set in numerous tiny rooms decorated with local art. I chose the 'fishy dishy' of the day and enjoyed a well cooked salmon fillet over... More

The food is good, the café is just across from the beach. We had a toddler with us and their room with toys was a godsend - we could enjoy our meal and our baby had fun too!

We had some nice baked good here before heading off on a trek to a kauri grove nearby. The cafe is rather small, but the seating outdoors is adequate with nice views of the beach.
