Great value

This was a real surprise and, packed to the roof almost. For $21.90, access to the all-you-can-eat buffet is really good value with good quality and many choices to suit all tastes. Normally I steer clear of such places, however, was persuaded by friends that this was worth it. It was indeed. The... read more

We have eaten here three times on our business trips and have not been disappointed. This time we ordered off the menu and had plenty of left overs for the doggy bag. Staff are very friendly and you don't have to wait long to be served or check for further service. Right in town. Very good food. Full bar service.... More

Came for yum cha with my wife and my younger sister as friends have recommended the yum cha here. Unfortunately, this may be one of the two places for yum cha but fortunately, its of a decent standard and may even be better than the restaurants in Christchurch as well as being on a decent par with some Auckland ones.... Have been here Sunday lunchtime for Yum Cha ten or more times. Great Food with all the usual favourites. Dumplings, pork buns, dim sim, sticky rice all washed down with some good Chinese tea. We usually spend around $30 to feed the two of us so is wonderful value for money. Is always busy so it pays to book. Recommended.

This place has been consistent with taste and quality of takeaways.I have never tried the buffet menu here but regularly do takeaways from here mainly roast duck and noodles.Thats the only place we do takeaway's from if we want Chinese . I have dined in once a la carte and the food was really good.Recommended for Chinese takeaways.

I would recommend this place for yum cha, but don't bother going in the evening for the smorgasbord or banquets. The food is the same as what you'd get in a very average Chinese takeaway and, of course, more expensive. It really was hugely disappointing. The decor needs upgrading. There were stains and holes in the ceiling. A very average... More

Relied on some one else to view the smorgasbord. It was obvious that it had been sitting in the bain Marie's / under heat lamps since 5pm or the time they opened on a Friday night. We arrived shortly after 7pm and the food was tastless. Vegetables, what there were of them were limp with broccalli so overcooked it had... More

Sunday lunch is a great time for Yum Cha, but it's best to make a booking, as it can get very busy. Many of the local Chinese community eat here which obviously is a good sign. Two or three generations of families often share a table. The food is uniformly excellent, and new dishes circulate dishes circulate regularly. The main... More

As someone who loves to order lots of shrimps, a Chinese meal can get a bit expensive. At Chinatown, however, you get a gigantic plate of salt and pepper shrimps or Maggi shrimps for only NZD 22. Both dishes are perfectly done - very lightly battered, delicately spiced, and served with or without shells (depending on your preference). Elsewhere, say... More
