Great food & Jazz music

We enjoyed a very pleasant Sunday evening dinner here despite it being a cold & wet evening in Melbourne. While it was not very full, the Jazz theme and music added to the occasion. We enjoyed the Ayam Ria (spicy chicken) and a Laksa. Efficient, friendly service - would visit again.

I was a bit disappointed by my latest experience at Chinta Soul. I used to live on Acland St and eat there a lot. I often got the seafood curry laksa for dinner. My brother ordered that and it just wasn't what it used to be. There used to be much more seafood, Vietnamese mint and fresh coriander. It was... More

The food at this restaurant is mouth wateringly good. Every single dish we ordered was delicious, fresh and full of flavour. It's a busy place with friendly staff who will find a spot for you somewhere. It's worth it if you have to wait a while. This restaurant serves the best Malaysian food ever.

Great Malaysian food, highly recommend. This is my second visit, was delicious both times. Recommend the flat noodle dish or the veggie curry (like a laksa). Rotti with peanut sauce is also fabulous.

Called in here early (around 6pm) on a Sunday night before a show with no booking. Lucky we were early as within 30 mins it went from 2-3 tables occupied to completely packed. We really enjoyed it here, it has an ecclectic décor and atmosphere, interesting music in the background, really good food and reasonably priced wine and beer. Service... More

Good thing we had booked for a Saturday night as the place was really busy. Upstairs part not as noisy as the street level area, although on a warm summer night this would be a great place to view the passing parade. Our group of 7 chose the "Billies" banquet, and it was an excellent option. Stand outs were the... More

We had dinner at the Chinta Ria Soul Malaysian restaurant with friends. There were ten of us, which is good, because you can sample more of the numerous tasty dishes on the menu and share....... We took lots of starters, including Lettuce Cup, Curry puffs, Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay and more.....Everything was fresh, pretty and tasty. For the main dish... More

We had a lovely dinner at Chinta Ria Soul and really enjoyed the food. The menu was interesting and the daily specials lovely. Portion sizes were good and represented good value for money. The services was good, given how busy the restaurant was on a Friday night. If you want to go, I would suggest booking on a Friday or... More

The place was full, including upstairs. Indeed, the laksa was great. No- nonsense service as staff took myorders right away and voila, in about 15 minutes the laksa was in my table,. If you want a quick bite in St. Kilda, this would be it.
