So much potential

Fantastic spot with lovely views but the food is a bit average. I really think they need to lift their game because it's such a great spot and it should be packed everyday. I have eaten there about 5 times and had the linguine with seafood which was good, salmon was also good. Sliders were nice, so... read more

Yes - completely average all around, except the prices which are just above average. 7 for dinner, 3 had the veal scallopini - All said the same thing, ok, but not great. I had a slightly mushy paella - with broken pippie shells in it - not too pleasant. The other remarked that although pleasant enough - nothing was a... More

Despite the Melbourne summer letting us down - it was wet and miserable on the day we dined, I totally agree with other reviewer comments that Riva's strength is it's location. We dined upstairs inside and my first impression of the space was that it had a 'dated, worn' feel, but we got a table at the window which certainly... More

A small group of us ate here in early January on a lovely warm summer's day. The service was friendly and efficient and I thought that the meals and the drinks were reasonably priced. The food was good but I thought the menu lacked a little imagination. All in all I'd definitely go back and of course the views across... More

Emma is in charge of weddings/events at Riva and she is an absolute gem. She made the whole experience so easy - and therefore thoroughly enjoyable! The day turned out exactly how we wanted it and it had a lot to do with the way in which Emma helped organise it. The food was delicious, the room was beautiful and... More

Riva is a wonderful venue for a few drinks, looking out over the ocean. It seems to be a popular venue for wedding parties. We dined here and I thought the food was good until I got to the end of my main course. The dining area inside is more formal inside and unfortunately, one of the male waiters appeared... More

I ate here on a Thursday night and had a perfectly cooked steak. Not many chefs in restaurants can cook a 'medium' steak perfectly well and the chef nailed it. They have a reasonable wine selection and the food that myself and my companion had was really nice. They have a diverse menu. The sunset view was exceptional from the... More

Melbourne summer evenings with views over the bay don't get much better than this. Drinks to start. Then a leisurely dinner of good quality ingredients, a decent wine list. All to be enjoyed as the sun sets, the sky darkens and the coastal lights outline the bay. Fair value and ambiance.

We've been to Riva a few times now and its' always busy. We've sat outside in the sun as well as inside when it was a bit squally outside. Food was simple and nice and priced appropriately. Service was good. Service was good. After a hearty meal its nice to have a stroll along the esplanade towards Brighton beach or... More

Four of us went for dinner, so we had an opportunity to try a lot of what was on the menu. We started with oyster bloody mary shooters (lovely). Then we moved onto a tasting plates (The Asian) and a sharing plate (pork & prawn gyozas cooked in sesame oil with a soy dipping sauce house made duck spring rolls,... More
