Dogs Bar is Melbourne's oldest small bar, located on the leafy surrounds of Acland Street in vibrant StKilda. Off the main tourist strip, here you will enjoy a very local vibe with artists, models and accountants mixing with the world to create Dogs Bar's iconic feel. With a classic European interior, an extensive range of wines by the glass and bottle along with Australian Craft Beers, the Modern Australian menu accommodates all of these elements with a range of shared food, mains, desserts and cheeses. Drop in. It'll be fun.

good doggie!

gave a try as heard new owners, well worth the effort! Looks like run by people who care again! Shall certainly be popping back soon. Highlights were the meatballs, linguine special, suggested wine and a couple of cocktails the barman mixed for us! Yum!!

Arrived on time for 8.30pm booking for degustation evening with chef Charles Voudouris. The 6.30pm sitting still had three courses to be served and were clearly running very late. We were offered a free drink by way of apology. We were finally seated at around 9.15 then waited a further 30 minutes before being served our first course. The food... More

Stopped in for a late nite and chose from the 'small plates' menu. My wife's quesadilla and my shrimp were both excellent. The experience was enhanced by the friendly staff and doo-wop soundtrack.

Absolutely loved Dogs Bar. Frequented late after work for many months for copious plonk and snacks. Over the few months I visited they had some wonderful live acts on and as it got colder they had the fab log fire. Very friendly staff and a great outside seating area that reminded me of the small side street cafés in Paris.... More

We went on a Friday night, a solo guitarist gave an outstanding performance- great to have live music that allows conversation as well. Meals were great value, lovely young blonde waiter who went out of his way to make sure we were looked after. Love the outside sitting area, we will be back 😄

Thanks Surfinggig Rob Tripolino - watch out for that name as he makes his mark on the Australian entertainment scene! We're really focussed on providing great entertainment which allows conversation but is enough to give you the kick you're looking for. Rob joins some great company on our weekends where Matt Dwyer Trio play (Sat) and Peter Bishop (Sun). Glad... More

Very impressed by Dog's bar - friendly staff who were happy to help and a great 2 for 1 wine deal on Mondays! Had a selection of the tapas which was so tasty, looking forward to trying the mains on my next visit! Highly recommended

Dear Emma, Thanks for your comments about our Monday Masterclass! We think its unbeatable value to enjoy any of our 20 or so wines by the glass for half price any time on a Monday. This week we introduce our new CHEAP EATS SPECIALS BOARD of Six Dishes for only 19.90 plus a Thursday Steak Night at 19.90 as well,... More

Went here on Monday for a few drinks. Had an amazing time! The tapas was amazing and the bartender rob was really friendly and very helpful in helping us choose which wine to order. The venue itself is very rustic and has a real character to it. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for you kind words Ikkinmaharg! Our people are critical to our success, and their passion for service and our products is critical. Dogs Bar has been around since 1989, and whilst we won't be making radical changes we plan to evolve the venue slowly. This week we introduce a great new format menu which is augmented by a great... Thanks RegJr1 for your kind review. We're working hard to bring great value food and wine to our largely local clientele and hope that visitors will enjoy the local StKilda vibe here at Dogs Bar. I particularly like Chef Lenny's range of pastas and risottos too! More

New team with happy faces, great food, great value for money, great wine list (not too big), great atmosphere......... Dog's Bar is back. The atmsophere is lay back, service is great. We sat inside (too hot to sit outside) by the open windows/doors, we had a couple of share plates and a couple of glasses of wine, sat back watching... More

Thanks Janette. Glad you enjoyed your visit and the local scene again! We're working hard to communicate with our huge local client base that the bar is back open and working on being a great wine bar once again. More

Heard it was open with a new team at the helm so as it was an old favourite we trotted in. It seems the sad decline has been halted, smiling staff, a revamped menu and wine list but the same relaxed atmosphere. Daily specials are still available but the great range of starters took our eye. Yes I know pork... More
