To start, the food in this restaurant is different from the "original" Stefanos. We were very impressed with the knowledgeable and friendly service that attended us during this brilliant degustation. We had the full 10 course and matching wines. It was a whole night affair from 7:30pm to nearly 12 midnight. It was unbelievable. The night exposed us to wines... More

If you are in Mildura, make sure you dine here. You will not regret it, it is well worth it. Lovely atmosphere, wonderful service, really amazing food and wines. Jim McDougall has done a great job at bringing fresh ideas to the degustation menu that Stefano set in place years ago ( we came in 2000 and had a great... More

We decided not to go the degustation menu and instead went for the 2 or 3 course menu. While waiting for the first course to arrive, we were treated to house made mini bread rolls and house made butter which was lovely. Our entrees were delicious and we were again given something while we waited for our mains. This time... More

We visited Jim McDougall in Stefano’s Cellar last weekend and were treated to 10 fabulous courses showcasing local and native produce matched with an excellent mix of European and Australian wines. The old "Stefanos" now in the hands of young inspired chef has evolved into a high end dining experience. Be prepared to be introduced to a whole new range... More

My wife and I had dinner at "JMMCDGLL" last week, and we were astonished at how good this restaurant is. We had a quintet of amuse-bouche - the most we've ever been given at any restaurant was one - which included interesting items like venison with beetroot and saltbush leaves with sour cream. As the menu is fixed (but you... More

A beautiful degustation meal of local produce, carefully selected and beautifully presented. Excellent, unpretentious service in this old cellar. Not much ambience but the best food l have had and at a great price. Innovative and delicious!

The food was nice but it didnt 'wow' me. The price was relatively cheap for a restaurant with a hat. Although, it doesnt really compare to other hatted restaurants. Still, worth a visit...

I should first say that I am not a 'foodie'. While I enjoy my food, I am an infrequent eater at top rated (expensive) restaurants. I might get to such places 3-4 times a year, if that. For me the 10 course degustation at Jim McDougall's was worth it. While not all the dishes blew me away, there were three... More

On our recent trip to Mildura we were pleasantly surprised to find that the food scene is excellent. At the top of the tree is Jim McDougall in Stefano's cellar. We had the 10 course menu and accompanying wines. The food and service were both excellent and the atmosphere is good although probably suffered with only a few tables booked... More
