Rare to have a family roast these days as kids not a fan. Noticed CR open and certainly grabbed the lunch opportunity. Kids groaned but happy once realised option of roast roll, chips and can. I went the large roast (beef) plate. Vegetables were the...big taste winner. Thought a huge plate but deliciously feasted till gravy licking end mmmMore
Been here three times, the first time was great, the older staff are friendly and can’t do enough to accomodate you, however the other times the younger staff are just really rude. Don’t greet you with a smile, are un inviting, look at you when...you’re at the counter and walk off….and when they actually do serve you they are very monotone, they sound like lurch. Won’t be back actually, I’m sick to death of being served like this, I’d rather just cook my own roast from now on.More
Spotted this place on Sunday did a u turn and parked right outside. There are 4 types of roasts with every veggie you could think of all in three different size meals we went with the medium roast with pork, peas, beans, pumpkin, roast spuds...and caulie with white sauce and chesse and of course gravy. Big meal and sooooo tasty $21 eachMore
We stopped in on our way back to the city. Friendly staff, great range of roast meats/chickens, veggies, gravy and basic salads. Very clean premises. A bonus was the desserts in the chiller section -trifle, chocolate mousse etc. Not commercial - close to home made...taste. Will call in again next time we are passing through. Thank you!More
Called in for a try, since moving here to live, great value meal, simple eat in area and it got so busy, which is a positive, obviously has huge regular customers .I had roast pork, husband had beef and we so enjoyed it .Medium was...certainly heaps enough I could not eat all but husband cleaned his plate .Staff very friendly and managed under the increase customer attendance over our time there. Would venture back .More
Been waiting a while and it didn’t disappoint. Great selection great prices and different sizes Oh and great roasts
Ordered a roast pork meal. Fed me for 2 nights. Not skimpy on the crackling or the meat. Vegies were A1. Not cheap but value for money. Will return for the lamb.
Place to stop for your good ol' 1 meat+ 3 veg! $13 for small plate but generous portion of roast - choice of lamb/ chicken/beef with either scalloped or one roast potato, mini carrots + peas with gravy & sauce as per my pic attached....Corner of Errard St South & Sturt St location - it is pretty small inside. No frills dine in or takeaway friendly service. Uphill hike from Town Hall city area. Free parking nearby. Don't expect fine dining quality for $13 but it is definitely better than your average pub grub. Been here twice - had lamb - meat a bit tough on first visit but tender on second, so be prepared for variable quality but overall good value for $. Soft drinks extra. There is optional salad & dessert but I have given this a miss. There are other menu items available. Sit outside for a downtown view & silhouette of Mt Warrenhiep in the distance. Close to Crafty Squirell which I have to visit next time.More
Well I had a large roast lamb with peas, carrots, huge piece of roast pumpkin, huge roast potato and scalloped potatoes. It was more than I could eat and I never normally leave anything. My wife had a medium roast pork with similar vegetables and...couldn’t finish it either. All food was like an expertly cooked home meal.More
Country roasts is one of the highlights of our trip each year through Ballarat. The food is consistently excellent with very cheerful staff. Serving sizes are very generous (be aware of the medium size...it is huge ! ).
Country Roasts have country sized meals of country bred meat for country sized appetites. Whenever we visit Ballarat we make sure we have dinner at Country Roast. Eat in or take away, this place is fantastic. The food is plentiful - the large size is...just HUGE - and the quality of the meat is top class. I always have the lamb and it is consistently tender. My husband has the chicken - tender and delicious. The veges are the frozen type unfortunately but still tasty. If you could fit in dessert, there is a range of wonderfully decadent and old fashioned ones available - trifle, apple crumble and lemon meringue. The place buzzes each night.More
This place has made itself a reputation for its excellent roast meal. I have Be tried the roast and chips. that's pretty good too.
When randomly driving around looking for something for tea other than the usual take away, we stumbled across this gem. Everything was perfect. The service was outstanding when we had specific questions due to allergies and all orders were correct. Huge, generous servings and so...nice after a couple of days of 'holiday eating'. We tried pork, chicken, beef and lamb and all got the thumbs up. Our only small disappointment was the pork crackling as only a small piece was yummy and the rest was too tough to eat. Everything else made up for this though!More
Super friendly and efficient staff. Fried chicken tenders were juicy and coating flavour was great. The chips were to die for, they came with gravy but they were so tasty I didn't bother using it! Hubby had a hot chicken roll which was practically inhaled....The kids loved it too. If I lived in Ballarat I would be a regular here.More
