As recent arrivals in Ballarat, we were desperate to find our new favourite place - and we struck gold early. Beautiful old Art Deco building, quirky setup, friendly staff, glorious food (brekkie or lunch....they're both fantastic) and coffee that's just right. Even our baby loves the place!

Busy tightly packed cafe with good music and pleasant ambience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Coffee was good as was the food. Pancakes with maple syrup were generous in size and the lambs fry with bacon and onion were delicious. Better than average country town breakfast stop.

I really liked the whole layout and ambience of the cafe. Slightly noisy when there are a lot of people in the mornings with a typical heartwarming coffee shop atmosphere. Helpful and attentive staff really made the whole experience and meal so much better. Food and coffee were good and didn't disappoint either. Will definitely look forward to be back... More

Food was had some really nice options but wasn't 'amazing. Coffee was of high standard and exceeded my expectations for the area. Breakfast bruschetta: tasty and fresh ingredients but a little hard to eat as everything falls apart. French toast: not really up to standard, a little bready and not delicate enough. The crumble was a bit bleh. Strong latte:... More

Seems like a very popular cafe. Zucchini and corn fritters were lovely and very filling, coffee was good.

Such an old fashioned comfort food for brekky. Delicious. Was a dull and grey morning and the lighting is ,shall we say, subdued at best. Very dark, could barely read the menu, but food was excellent as was the coffee. Place was very busy but staff excellent.

I loved the breakfast bruschetta! Nice crunchy bread, crispy bacon, yummy avocado, and succulent tomatoes. Atmosphere was warm, vibrant, and buzzing (it was really quite crowded) and service was friendly.

This is the best coffee - and is consistently regardless of which staff member makes it (you don't have to hope your favourite is working). Lunches, Dinner (Friday nights only) and sweets are gourmet/ different to everywhere else, without being flashy or trendy - it's good food, without too many ingredients but interesting and good portion size. Staff are always... More

Traveling up form Melbourne on the train, we went to L'Espresso for breakfast on Saturday morning. It was busy, bustling, friendly, warm. We enjoyed the quirkiness of book shop, cd shop, vinyl shop plus cafe! Very good fare and coffee ok. We went again on Sunday for a light breakfast, after having eaten very well all day in Ballarat on... More
