Family gathering for brunch and separately for coffee/snack. Everything about this place is ok. Nothing stands out, except that it is a very lovely setting to hangout when it's sunny. The service from time to time can be average to good, depending on individual staff members. (Shows a certain lack of training and/or experience.) The food is slightly above average... More

The location and setting is great. Food is ok but poor organization. Our first two choices of wine had run out - "our supplier's fault". I could have purcased as many of our first choice wine ($42) as I wanted (for $18) as I wanted. After ordering they told us one of our orders (there were four of us) was... More

Delightful venue by the lake, we enjoyed its yesteryear ambience and the busy walkers, runners and cyclists getting their morning exercise. Had the Pipers special...2 eggs whatever way, bacon, tomato {a little undercooked}, mushroom, hash brown and a continental sausage. Several pieces of toast to top it off....all for under $20.00. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and struggled to get... More

I've eaten in Pipers a few times over the years - it's a lovely location and the food has always been OK. Went for lunch on Saturday - two steak sandwiches and two soft drinks later - I had a $60.10 hole in my wallet - wow!!! So then you bite into your steak sandwich and find that the steak... More

This is my second review of Pipers, based on my visit simply for a latte' this week. Waited over 30 minutes with a friend in a freezing cold, at an outside table as we had a dog with us, having ordered our lattes at the counter. Eventually it was a case of have it as a take away , or... More

Pretty much sums it up. Here is why you go: Its on the lake, and you are already there and hungry...there are no other options. Here is why you don't go: You can get in your car and drive to pretty much anywhere else and have a better meal. That being said, if you have no choice...then just don't expect... More

I love this restaurant - there are a variety of eating options - the location is perfect between the lake and botanic gardens - I have had large family functions here as well as small soirees - great for coffee and cake or fancy lunch - the kitchen closes early tho' as I took my sister for a bowl of... I recently had dinner here as part of a work function. It's a lovely building with a great balance in décor between the historical and modern, very well done. The view from from the back windows is gorgeous, with a lovely verandah (with heaters, handy on cool night) and the whole place has a lovely ambience. Unfortunately the food was... More
