Decided we needed a nice cuppa after our long walk. They had been very busy so there was not a lot to choose from. We had hot chocolates, coffee and a slice of GlF pear cake/sticky date cake, which all were enjoyable and good size servings that served three of us. Prices were reasonable for what we had. Service was... More

This is a beautiful little spot around the picturesque Lake Wendouree. It's quiet and very pleasant inside. The waiters are very friendly and accommodating. Our meals were delicious and good portions too. And sweets are divine. Don't be scared to ask to share one. Definitely a must when visiting Ballarat.

I called into Pipers by the Lake to arrange a time for dinner next Friday and subsequently enjoyed a very good coffee whilst looking out at Lake Wendouree and watching the birdlife and observing the beautiful frame the restaurant is set in within the treelife.

It's probably the location (which is great) that is the reason for the high prices. Not that there was anything wrong with the coffee, hot chocolate and muffin.

My relatives and I went for lunch at Pipers yesterday. The location is marvellous, an ideal spot by Ballarat's lovely Lake Wendouree. The building is spacious, bright and airy; and there is ample parking. We waited a long time to be served though the tables were not hiving with customers. The menu looked appealing but the food was not up... More

Yesterday afternoon my wife and I, daughter and 92 year old mother in law unfortunately chose Pipers by the Lake for a late light lunch. We arrived at about 2.15pm and waited inside the door for a table. (as the sign directed) Some minutes later we were shown to our table (by this time there were a number of vacant... More

Our table of 9 people were very disappointed with our lunchtime meal. We booked a table the day before but they lost the booking and had to search to find a table for us. Our food took over an hour to be served, and everything was cold on arrival. Chips were overcooked and inedible to many members of our group.... More

We have eaten at this restaurant before and been happy with the food and service. On Monday we decided to eat here as there are good views of the lake from the deck. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, we understood this as it was busy with groups having Christmas lunches and plenty of people like us enjoying a day out.... More

I feel you are just paying for the view here. Don't take your kids unless they sit still at a table or are in a pram and can't get out. Food is ok but not amazing for what you pay. I don't drink coffee but hubby said it's on par with a McDonalds coffee so not exactly brilliant! Wine and... More

I have reviewed this restaurant before, and decided to give it one more try, only because we were hungry after walking the lake, and they boasted an new exciting menu. The menu promised great things but unfortunately the meals were a huge disappointment. My first mouthful of Whiting??, I was treated with a mouthful of fine bones, which was a... More
