Great meal, best so far in Taswegia. I was a little disappointed with the lack of spice, so if you are affeciandos of the chilli, ask for HOT. Chimichanga was huge, dry rub ribs with potato salad - unbelievable, creole scampi - wonderful, gumbo with black cajun spice - filling but mild. Ignore the bad reviews, this place is GREAT.

A captivating and embracing experience of sights and aromas. The food really took me on a journey like no other restaurant has. Not often in Australia can you experience this style of cuisine. I had the slow cooked smoked brisket, which melted in my mouth and was so very delicious. Staff were very friendly and made the whole dining experience... More

Found the restaurant googling Launceston places to eat, and found out a workmate was absolutely in love with this place. It didn't disappoint! The food was amazing! We hadn't experienced authentic Creole food to this extent before, and we have found a new love for the American BBQ. We were impressed that the chef / owner took the time to... More

We had dinner here & thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We ordered off the specials board & it was a combination chicken, beef & ribs. I really enjoyed the beef & my husband loved the ribs. The restaurant has great atmosphere & we would definitely eat here again if in Launceston.

My friends and I drove for 2.5 hours to go to Smokey Joe’s and we weren’t disappointed! It was easy to find, and set in a charming building decorated with some southern memorabilia (but not so much that it looks tacky). There are 2 large eating areas (one that serves as a function room), as well as some tables outside.... More

We were there for dinner on Thu 18 March 2011, visiting from Sydney. The building is a single storey period weatherboard, with timber floorboards and furniture that isn't very flash. Some US numberplates, international flags etc adorn the walls. They all serve to set the atmosphere - not in the slightest bit objectionable to us. My bench seat sank down... More

Went to Smokey Joe's while on vacation on the recommendation of a friend. I have lived in the Southern States and have frequented some good ol' creole restaurants in other places. I found the food and atmosphere amazing. As a vegetarian I find it hard to get good food at the best of times but this place blew my taste... More

Found this dingy place following good reviews and order the buffalo wings as an entree two dry chicken wings for $9 the we had the ribs nit cooked in sauce then they just place sauce on top after cooking... Not tasty at all! Thus came with a week old spud on the side and the so called salad was one... More

Of course we are sorry whenever a customer is not satisfied, and we do all we can to make sure that we correct any mistakes. But even though most people who visit us enjoy the experience, some people "just don't get it". Our Buffalo style wings are grilled, not deep-fried, and are served traditionally with house-made bleu cheese dressing and... More

What a place! We went the first night we arrived and then back again the second evening because it was so good. The food is sensational. A sort of southern American and Mexican taste with very fresh ingredients and interesting specials. I tried to eat something different the second night but I ended up choosing the muddy creme brulee (has... More
