The table goes quiet, drinks are abandoned where they stand and every one gets down to the business at hand. It's a complicated dirty business at times, decisions need to be made, there are a myriad of subtle adjustments that can be considered, while there is no rush there is an essence of urgency and expectation. Does it need extra... More

My husband probably summed it up best by declaring the food here as 'man food'. He means: tasty-eat-with-your-hands-finger-licking-no salad/vegetables-to-sully-your-plate kind of food. What we had (me: ribs and fries, him: chicken/rib combo with beans and fries) was our first taste of southern American food, and it was extremely tasty and delicious. I rated Very Good rather than Excellent because the... More

Went to Smokey Joe's on the info read on other reviews on Trip Advisor. Was a little disappointed no children's menu at or any food really friendly for kids. They suggested the quesadilla is popular with children, as it's like pizza. So I ordered that for my son, but asked for no mushrooms, but was told they could not do... More

Just had our third experience dining at Smokey Joe's, and once again had a superb meal. We shared a quesidilla for entree, crispy and delicious, and the side serve of sour cream/guacomole/salsa was perfect! For mains we shared the BBQ pork shoulder and the andouille with tiger prawns (medium heat). Both were full of flavour, not too hot, and came... More

I enjoy international cuisines and appreciate the concept and authenticity of this style of restaurant and menu. We have been on 2 occasions - the food had been absolutely magic and is just how the menu describes. The taste & flavour is AWESOME. The staff are fabulous! PLEASE - for those of you that leave negative comments...I ask you to... More

We were expecting something a bit special after seeing it rated a mention in Gourmet Traveller . However we were disappointed . The Entree was quite nice( quesellada ) but was listed as having sour cream , guacamole and tomoto something with it .There was about a teaspoon of each of these which lasted for the first bite. We then... More

We have been mentioned in Australian Gourmet Traveller, and SBS Feast magazine on several occasions because their critics and writers "get it" which I was sorry to note that you did not. You scored your visit with us a 2, which doesn't match the text. The quesidilla was "quite nice" though you didn't feel you had enough salsa, guacomole, and... More

We had the BBQ chicken and pulled pork bun...delicious, definitely try the hot sauce! Servings were great, though we were full, we couldn't resist the silk pie and creme brulee - a must try! Staff were wonderful and the house setting has so much character...looking forward to coming back.

Went for ribs.. Despite phone call and email ..not advised ribs were off the menu... Ask what is available before you visit ... Disapointed big time.. Research who else in Launceston offers this style of menu.. Mind you, the staff were very apologetic..

Firstly, I thank you for noting that our staff apologized for our lack of ribs last night. I was the person who took your booking, and I am also the person who replied to your email. When booking, no one mentioned ribs to me, and likewise, the email subject was only about whether or not we were a "B YO"... More

I almost got lost trying to find this place (tucked away in a private residence, hidden behind some trees), but the persistence was well worth it. While I can’t rate the entire menu, I will however review what I had on the night - which was the Tasmanian BBQ pork shoulder. What can I say, it was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious.... More

Located in a converted old house, Smokey Joes might be easy to drive past-but only the first time! always have a good meal bit expensive but worth it, they even have crocodile!
