Best curry we've had in the southern hemisphere

I cook a lot of Indian food and come from the UK where the Indian restaurant scene is amazing. Having lived in New Zealand for the past 3.5 years we've never found anywhere that lives up to our very high standards. Pickled Evenings still doesn't hit the highs of the UK restaurants but it was... read more

Since moving to Tassie I have had a craving to satisfy my need of decent Indian food, out of all the places I've tried this is by far the best (so far). Why so many people think authentic Indian is variants of mango/butter chicken is beyond me. This is my go-to place for Indian food. Thank you Pickled evenings.

My wife and I were staying in a hotel around the corner and we visited this restaurant for a quick meal. The welcome was warm and the menu had what we needed. We enjoyed our meal and recommend this restaurant for a curry.

Really tasty food in good quantity for the price. Other service was almost non existent, had to wait for quite a while for the drinks to arrive and were not offered a refill even when the food arrived.

A group that regularly does the rounds of Indian cuisine in Launceston, has been going to Pickled Evenings for some time. In general, Pickled Evening is consistently ranked well in term of quality of their food and service. Alcohol tends to be priced on the high side, however this is common for most restaurants.

After all these raving reviews and being in close proximity to my hotel I decided to give it a shot. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Indian and I'm happy to say this place did very well. I found the garlic naan to be a little oily and soft but my butter chicken made me completely forget about it.... More

Certainly not a place to go if you are after value for money. Not enough meat disguised in a great volume of sauce. Naan bread way overpriced. The incredibly attentive staff compensated for the substandard quality. Well off baby boomers would probably be happy.

My wife recommended this Indian Restaurant as the Best she'd been to. We went on a Sunday Evening and sure enough it was full. A good sign for any restaurant. The ambience was good but not great, not enough of India for a total Indian experience. The food however, was the star of the show. Music to my tastebuds. Nothing... More
