Little India in Little Launceston

This small but charming restaurant at the north end of George Street was packed to the rafters when we walked in; Luckily enough we were able to get a table for two. The waitress attended our table almost immediately, and our drinks followed soon thereafter. I ordered the lamb madras and my wife... read more

This is not indian. This is terribly watered down, bland wanna-be indian. I can't stress how much people should avoid this place. We get a beef madras and chicken sagwala. Both, the meat pieces tasted stewed and overcooked. The sauce/gravy/curry was the worst part however. Zero flavour and super watered down. The naan/roti was acceptable and so was the service.... Absolutely brilliantly presented takeaway, vindaloo easily the best in town, friendly service and reasonably priced. Would happily return!

The decor at Indian Empire looks like it hasn't changed for a long time. More casual than classy, so pretty much at the same level as many of the local Italian, Thai or Chinese restaurants. The cooking is homely rather than fancy and the tableware basic. Having said that, the two curries we had tasted good, the naan was particularly... More

A great little Indian restaurant. Cosy but not over crowded when full. Service staff are excellent. Food is delightful, from the typical onion Bhaji, vegetable samosa for entree to a full range of Indian dishes. You can order Australian or Indian hot. BYO wine was great with a nearby bottle shop. Full meal for 3 with bread and multiple dishes... More

Great food service and atmosphere. The vindaloo was one of the tastiest I've had in years. They will also spice it up a bit if you like it really hot. They also have a few good wines available by the glass or bottle. Overall great value for money

Ordered lamb madras and beef vindaloo. Hands down the worst Indian I have ever had. No flavour in the curries, rice was dry and cheese naan had no cheese in it and was burnt and dry. My partner and I couldn't eat it. Don't waste your money! Go to pickled evenings a short walk up the road instead.

Ordered for over $250 worth of food from this restaurant and all we got was Disgustingly pathetic customer service from the owner himself. The owner thinks he owns a 3 hatted restaurant but in reality he owns a 3 hatted load of garbage who serve below par Indian food at absurd prices. This restaurant is highly not recommended if you're... More

Best Indian have had in a very long time. Reasonable prices, friendly & efficient waiting staff. Restaurant was warm on a very cold Tasmania night. The food was fresh, tasted beautifully spiced. Would return & recommend!

Nice food. Menus handed over, not asked for a drink. Order taken, had to ask for drinks. Food nice, first drink consumed before mains. Three waiters standing around looking for something to do. Three empty glasses for entire course. No offer of desserts or coffee nor drinks. Drinks equal profit Dear Owner!
