Ate here because a lot of other restaurants were to busy with football crowds. Glad we did. I had the chilli chicken which was the best one I've had in Australia. My wife had the butter chicken which was ok, but the sauce had a bit much of a tomato base. Garlic naan was good. No frills Indian that was... More

Have eaten here and had take away several times. We always find the staff friendly and that the menu has a good selection, and food is flavoursome.

never seen a chicken vindaloo that looked like this before, see pic. six pieces of chicken the size of a 20c piece and no thickness to the sauce, it was a runny water like a soup (see pic). It was unpalatable and had no substance. If I wanted a soup I would have ordered one. also the naan was too... More

No matter the day, time or even the year you visit, the food is consistently good and the service excellent. The staff remember customers and their usual orders and are always friendly. Thus restaurant is great value.

This restaurant was one of the very few open on Labour Day-the whole of Tasmania seemed to be closed. We ordered pompaddoms with dips to start. the raita was sweetened and when I asked the (indian?) waitress about it she said 'oh did you want yoghurt, tasmanians like things sweet" and brought me a dollop of yoghurt. next, Lamb Jalfeizi,... Kick off with a premium Kingfisher. The Veg samosa with the mint dipping sauce. Crack the BYO wine .. Peppery Shiraz. Butter chicken Delhi style, Goan fish curry, tandoori, Naan, rice... Yum! Your hostess will even serve and illuminate your cake. Top value, as always.

We visited 5 years ago with friends and had a marvellous meal. This year our visit was a bit more low-key with an early entry on a Sunday night. with only two tables occupied. The young waiter was most attentive without being at all intrusive. The menu was extensive and varied. Last year we visited India, and as we progressed... More

Pretty average Indian food. The curries tasted a bit old and like they'd just been reheated (esp the vegetable korma). But the paneer pakora are nice.

While Indian Empire was one of the few restaurants open at Launceston on Christmas Day, we found its offerings rather mediocre. The quality of the meat was less than impressive, while the sauces were rather runny. Our butter chicken, for example, felt more like tomato soup. I can get better Indian for a fraction of the cost at my local... More

Lover of foreign cuisine, mainly Indian and Thai, me and my girlfriend had a lamb dish each, the lamb fell apart without any fat what-so-ever full of flavours and large sized dishes. The naan accompanied very well, Lamb so tender with zero fat seems hard to find these days. Too top the night off the night the price was extremely... More
