Must visit if you're in Launceston!

We visited Stillwater last week and had the degustation menu with matching wines - what a great experience! We had heard great things about Stillwater and they were all true. The service truly is outstanding, second to none from when you walk in the door to when you leave. The information provided... read more

Booked in to Stillwater as I wanted to give my dear friend a beautiful lunch. Stillwater's reputation preceded it and I expected something quite special. We ordered fizz to start with. My measure was (quite visibly) short. We decided to share a starter, and asked for an additional plate. It was dirty, had old dried caked-in food stuck to it,... More

Dear Whitley Local, I am so sorry we did not live up to your expectations for your recent luncheon and spoiled the impression you wanted to leave your friend. We endeavour to communicate as much as possible that we offer a casual cafe style during the day and at night ramp up to our indulgent culinary experience. As you can... More

We were staying opposite this restaurant which by all accounts is one of the best. We wandered in three nights in a row, only to be told it was fully booked. Our schedule did not allow us to be precise about when we might be able to get back into town so we lucked out. The morning coffees were great... More

We've been to Stillwater numerous times over the past 10 years and the food is always excellent and service good. However, the last trip left us feeling that the restauranteurs are pushing the prices past the quality of the experience. The wine list is very cheeky on the cheap end (3x) and Riesling by glass ($25 Tassie) also a tad... More

It is just a great location, fantastic staff, good food, great wine and stunning views down the Tamar River. It is certainly worth the money.

Exceptional food. Exceptional service. Very very pricey but we would gladly save up for three months to visit there again.

Stillwater was a warm and inviting restaurant for a cold morning - suiting 2 frozen travellers from Brisbane. Food was delicious, baked eggs for one and banana bread with lemon creme cheese for the other. Coffee was great -strong and hot. The degustation menu looked great, sadly we had to leave Launceston. Would definitely come back again!

We had dinner for four here at a cost of A$125 per head including wine. The entrees were excellent, with the scallops a highlight. The waiter was very helpful and suggested a really nice Pinot Noir which was mid-priced. The main courses were uniformly good, with the eye fillet steak ranked as one of the best meals ever. Desserts were... More

Couldn't get in here the night before for dinner, driving past we saw that it was open for breakfast and decided to give it a go. They didn't disappoint, we had a window seat to look over the river, the juice was really nice, the eggs florentine was delicious, the toasted ciabatta and in house raspberry jam was nice and... Went for breakfast, food is just good, not fantastic, but the atmosphere, service, view etc was great. Pity I did not have a chance to return again for their main course.
