Food tasted good but wanted more

Hallams is an ok place to go if your in the mood for seafood. We had the chowder to start off with not a lot of seafood in the bowl but the taste was there and it was a decent serve. Husband had salmon I had white fish, serving sizes were about the size of your palm (small palm) rest... read more

We had considered visiting Hallam's on a number of previous visits to Launceston, but not got there - partly because of patchy reviews and partly because of the pull of the institution among restaurants that's just across the water from it. However, as it is one of few open on Sunday and Monday, we finally took the plunge. Hallam's has... More

We usually dine out only on special occasions. For me to enjoy a venue totally it must be about atmosphere and service as well as the view. Hallams has it all. Hallams occupies an old but beautiful building with expansive windows to take in a spectacular view of The Gorge where it joins the beginning of the Tamar River. Beyond... More

Have to say the food here is excellent although a little pricey but understandable with the waterfront dining and nice fitouts. But totally mismatch when you have the rudest staffs. We spent 6 days here in tassie and this is our last stop and have almost everyone here is courteous and friendly except the ones at Hallams

As a local this place has a great name but has twice failed to deliver on its reputation despite its beautiful location. Some staff are excellent, other inexperienced staff verging on surly, we even had to pop our own champagne. I wonder what the OH&S case would have been like if I'd taken another patrons eye with the cork! Overall... More

I was looking forward to this - in some ways very disappointing. The service was generally OK and the Tassie bubbles lived up their promise - the food however was less impressive. The seafood platter for 2... well good luck with that. Two very small people perhaps. The chocolate ganach however was fabulous. Overpriced for the quality but a fabulous... More

I did not have a reservation, but the staff still managed to fit me in anyway - of course, it helped that I was willing to sit outside on a cool, breezy evening. The salmon dish I ordered was amazing. I would highly recommend eating here.

Exactly what we hoped for - brilliant food showcasing Tassie seasonal fare. Staff were great, professional and friendly. Food was amazing - all five of us loved our meals, would love to go back and try some more.

At the end of our wonderful holiday touring Tasmania, we wanted to celebrate in style and chose Hallam's Seafood Restaurant on the wharf at Launcenston. We couldn't have picked anything better. Although very busy, staff were friendly and attentive, giving us the best of service and advice with menu selection. We thoroughly enjoyed every course along with the local wines.... More

You must book as it is trendy. The deco is superb. The service is not appropriate as he never took into account that there was a problem with the oysters. Bad for a seafood restaurant of high standards!! The price are quite high. The food was perfect for me but not my friend who got some oysters smelling very bad.
