This is not a Japanese restaurant. The menu, drinks, staff and sushi chef are not Japanese. The fish is not fresh, as Launceston isn't a port town. STEER CLEAR of the SUSHI As I was paying the bill near counter, a man not wearing an apron, was getting salmon out of a small grubby bag. As he went into the... More

Beautiful food but very small portions so this is an expensive dinner. Also a small space with many tables.

I was there on a Wednesday night, so it wasn't busy. The restaurant was warm enough to take my jacket off. I enjoyed my meal. Service was good, I was well attended to. Food was very well presented. I would love to eat here again.

Having travelled to Japan numerous times I'm a little fussy when it comes to Japanese food but this place surprised me. Authentic and beautifully fresh food. We didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive and the staff were very friendly and always had a smile on their faces. A really lovely place for a quiet meal. We... More

Full Restaurant equals very slow service. Food good. Only seemed to be one cool who spent a lot of time front off house and not in kitchen.

I love this place. The food is excellent. It is only a small place but big on friendly service. Most of the time you can walk in without reservations.

Finding an open restaurant on Sunday night in Launceston can be a challenge. Kaizen is a small Japanese restaurant that seats about 25 max, usually I don't entertain anything Japanese due to my self imposed ban on their whaling activity but since the Western Australian government has started culling sharks I have no leg to stand on. The food is... More

The food here is AMAZING, the beef and chicken cooked to perfection! so tender and full of Japanese flavor! So yummy! we definitely recommend you eat at Kai-zen when you visit Launceston. My husband and I randomly went to Kai-zen for dinner and absolutely loved it! We walked in without a booking and were seated instantly! The owner is so... More

unwelcoming service, main chef had a bad attitude and food was a bit overpriced. Food itself was acceptable, closed to the hotel otherwise probably won't visit again.
