honest food, great service

Five of us called in here without booking after flying in from Melbourne. On a Wednesday night it was half full. Cheerful, helpful, unpretentious service from our waiter, food arrived in quick time. My eyes were bigger than my stomach! The service was excellent and the food came out quickly. On a busy night (a Monday at that) we were rated without a reservation with no problem. The food was good and large serves, I would've liked just a bit more heat in the chilli but great flavour overall

We were able to get a table on a very busy night and were served quite quickly. The bean mix was was very bland and the veggies lacked flavor as well. The icecream sauce was strange and had a gritty texture and the mousse was much thicker than you would expect and was served in a ramekin on a plate... More

We visited on a Monday night & straight away were assured that we had made a good choice, by the amount of people who were dining. We shared a nachos & had individual meals, which were so big we couldn't get through. The flavours were great. Probably a bit expensive, but as we are on holidays we didn't mind. Service... More

A friend celebrated her birthday here recently - it was perhaps our 4th time here so we were excited about the prospect of another fabulous meal - and once again we were not let down !! This restaurant is the most consistently above average eatery in Launceston - and equal best in Tassie in my opinion (with Anapurna in nth... More

High prices and meagre portions. Not even very flavoursome either; no spice, just bland vegetables and melted cheddar basically. Drinks were the highlight. If you're hungry, avoid.

The Prickly Cactus is quite a good restaurant in the Launceston CBD. It's a little Tex-Mex, so not real authentic Mexican, but OK. Serves are quite good , but the food a little bland, but good value. Not a head turner, with the fit-out, more like a café.

I eat food from here at least once every 2 weeks or so. It's consistent and great value for money. Staff are highly attentive and helpful and it's no wonder it seems to be booked out each weekend. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is family friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
