was a bit like the food you would / could cook at home. I have been here a few times for different functions / events and it doesn't really seem to change. You will not get a bad meal but you will not get a knock your socks off feed. For Mexican food it is not overly spicy and while... More

Staff were good - no booking but quickly seated and a drink order done in a few minutes. Food was a mix. Freshly baked Cob Loaf for starter wasn't - it was so crusty that it had either been in the oven for a long time or more than once. While tasty it was almost impossible to cut and crunchy... More

This was a reasonable Mexican restaurant; the nachos & refried beans were good The main course- chilli (not hot) was very pleasant. The Chilli con cactus (spicy) was not so refined. This seemed to be a pack of Uncle Ben's rice with strips of beef covered in habanero sauce from a bottle - incandescent [but still edible], but without any subtlety... Went there after the football and it was nice to get back into the warmth. Staff were friendly and attentive and the meal was really nice. I had the Prickly Pears which was ribs, prawns and wedges, It was a huge meal which I couldn't finish (maybe because I had shared a serve of nachos as well) One of a... More

Good service with attentive waiters but the food was bland and lacked flavour. Defintely not authentic mexican but tex-mex similar to a taco bell.

The open fire was appreciated as both times I visited was winter. Service was excellent. Menu is quite extensive and I really enjoyed the food. Really yum

We discovered The Prickly Cactus on our first visit to Tasmania at the end of 2001. We have eaten here on every visit since, and love the atmosphere and authentic Mexican cuisine. We ate here again last night, and were impressed once more by the food & staff. We were lucky to get a table, having left it fairly late... More

service was good to start off with. As a group we felt that the ''cob'' loaf was a bit laughable considering it was the size of a supermarket bun and overcooked. Enchilada could have had more flavour and there are no salt and pepper shakers on tables??.1st place I have ever been where you MUST have a main meal. Happy... More

We were a little hesitant about eating here after reading some of the reviews about the service here, but took the chance anyway because the menu looked so good. Well - we don't know what those reviews were on about, because we found the service really great - they couldn't do enough for us!! And we didn't have a booking.... More
