The Black Cow, recommended to me by my good friend - a serious gastronomically correct mate. On my own on a business trip, I managed to get the last seat in the place at 6PM on a Tuesday night! Its obviously popular and you probably need make a booking if you want any certainty of a table as it was... More

Everything was cooked to perfection and I could fault the service. Only suggestion would be to include the costs of sauces and sides into the steak price

I try to eat here a few times a year and get particularly excited when pork belly is an entree option. As a creature of habit, I always order an eye fillet for main course and they are always cooked perfectly. The wait staff are highly professional and ensure all guest needs are met in a timely manner. A vast... More

Loved our meal there....twice in a week. There is a private cellar room which seats 10-12. We used that the first time for 10...all enjoyed the night. 2nd time just 4 of us in the main restaurant but equally as good food and service.

Had delicious oysters and perfectly cooked steak with very good service - the only downside it that you had to pay extra for sauce/butter etc for the steak!

We just ate here tonight on recommendation and we now know why our friends had told us to eat here. The steak was excellent and presented with lovely sides and a warm atmosphere. The staff were also able to make my wife a special cocktail that wasn't on the menu which wax a nice touch and helped to make it... More

Our family are one of carnivores therefore we were looking forward to a meal at the Black Cow. How disappointed we were does not truly describe our experience. We had a reservation for 8 pm only to arrive and be told to come back in half an hour as our table was not ready. Upon returning we were seated at... More

There are two things you just cannot miss when visiting Launceston. one is the cateract Gorge and the other is Black Cow Bistro. As you might expect, Moo628 is exceedingly fond of steak and especially loves black cows.No Brainer!. Thank goodness this place lives up to its reputation then. The steak is fantastic, the service excellent and the wine list... More

First up - the menu sucks you in and gives you a great bit of background information on the chef, hosts and source of the food. There is ample choice on the menu and the most difficult thing was choosing what to eat. Even more difficult was what wine to drink but thank God for the great staff - always... More
