Faultless service

The service from wait staff was seamless – faultless, in fact. The interior lighting in Black Cow was extremely dim, so reading the menu was difficult. Steak is the order of the day, and there were plenty of choices by size and cut. I chose a small porterhouse steak ($40), which was well... read more

We celebrated a significant birthday at Black Cow recently with a family group. The meal was excellent, the service was professional and unobtrusive, and the menu choice was first class. Highly recommended for a special night out where trying Tasmanian produce is the aim. It isn't cheap, but Black Cow was well worth the money.

Steak cooked very well and very tasty grass fed Tasmanian product. The vegetables were fantastic as well. It's a little pricey but worth every cent to treat yourself to a steak of this quality.

In the middle of rather backward town is this gem of a restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly and very professional. The steaks may not be the best in the world, but are still sublime. The staff will talk you through the choice of cuts to ensure that you get just what you want. Yum yum.

I dined alone at the Black Cow Bistro last month while on holidays in Tasmania. I had thought I had booked a table online, but apparently the restaurant were having trouble with their online bookings. I would normally confirm if I don't hear back, but time got away from me. Luckily, they were able to find a table for me.... More

Best steak we have eaten in ages, perfectly cooked, great choice of accompaniments. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. A great recommendation.

Had a meal here with mates while we were visiting wineries in the Tamar Valley region. Pork Belly was a popular entree, all had steaks for mains, food was good. Wine list ok as well, had some good wine as well, an enjoyable night.

Fantastic steak and other foods! Great flavours! Steaks were cooked to perfection. The pork belly entrée was delicious. Waiters were very attentive and kept filling our water. Must go in Launceston!
