We took the advice from several people and booked in to eat at Black Cow on the first night we arrived in Launceston. We were not disappointed. The staff we very knowledgeable and helped my wife, who is not a big steak eater pick a suitable cut for how she liked it cooked. Both hers and my steak came out... More

We recently had a great meal at Black Cow. The restaurant was recommended to us and fulfilled all expectations regarding the meal. Service also good. Price of meals towards to the top of the scale. However the tables were very close together which was a distraction and felt a little claustrophobic as the restaurant was busy. Reflects the economics of... More

There is a variety of steaks to choose from. The service crews were fantastic, very knowledgeable and customer-focused.

Our first visit to the Black Cow certainly won't be the last. Everything from our first step in the door to our departure was spot on. We were greeted the instant we walked inside by a friendly and attentive waitress and immediately were made to feel as if our experience was of genuine concern to the staff. All 3 courses... More

Went posh on weekend footy trip by taking other half to Black Cow. We were not disappointed. I had the rib eye and Sue had the Scotch fillet. Quality meat meant exquisite meal. We will be back.

Hand on heart I'm not trying to be negative, but a visit to this restaurant was number 1 on my list of places to see in Tasmania. Unfortunately it didnt meet my expectations. Firstly, we were with a 6 year old. Prior to arriving I called to asked if they had a childrens menu and I was told about a... More

This is my favourite restaurant in Launceston and as usual, it didn't let me down. Our table of 6 all enjoyed steaks cooked to perfection, served hot and at the same time and followed by excellent desserts. A local pinot by Dawson & James set off the meal perfectly.

Really lovely experience. Good food excellent service with a touch of romance. We felt so looked after that time just flew by. Maybe a little overpriced when compared to some of Sydney's top restaurants but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.

We entertained guests from NZ here last week, and left feeling disappointed and ripped off, having heard they make amazing steaks. There was no doubt they have excellent meat from Cape Grim and further afield. Three of us ordered the Cape Grim Sirloin - medium rare and a Longford sirloin medium to well @ $45 and $37 respectively. This came... More

We went as a small group on a trip through northern Tasmania and experienced the best steak all of us had had (at least for a long time). Sadly we all had the same dishes as the eye filet steak and the oysters looked incredible on our fellow diners' plates. The oysters were superb with some interesting Asian dressings. The... More
