I have never been given an experience in a Tasmanian restaurant that I would describe as flawless... Until the Black Cow Bistro invited myself and my partner through the front door. Oysters- Moulting Bay pacific's... Add them to the top of your bucket list.Juicy, sweet, smooth and creamy. The type you want to keep biting into savouring each heavenly flavour.... More

I had high expectations of Black Cow having heard some positive reviews but to be prepared to pay for it. I know it's a small thing but my first interaction on the phone when making the reservation I was referred to as "m'lady"! Hmmm...not sure who uses that sort of language anymore and have to say not a fan..... Entree... More

Another lovely dining experience at Black Cow. I have been three times now and it has been consistently good. The wine list is one of the best I've come across - beautifully curated. I only have two suggestions to enhance the dining experience; complimentary bread and butter would be a welcome addition, and on the night I dined, our waitress... More

Dinner with colleagues was a knockout on every level. The most magnificent meals were served, backed up with quality service from an outstanding waitress and underpinned by a quality wine list. A definite must do for anyone visiting. I can't wait to return.

Had dinner with 5 colleagues in the dining room amongst a magnificent wine collection. 6 steaks all round that were unanimously voted spectacular! A definite go to venue whether it be for a romantic dinner or a large group. It is a must visit for any visitor to Launceston. The wine list was also comprehensive.

4 of us dined here and I can't fault the service the waiter was very good at what he does but the food and price was a little disappointing . The steaks and I mean all 4 were very tough.and when your paying over $60 for one steak with a small cube of potato and that's all its not good... More

I know that they are well known for their steak (as the name suggests), but their desserts were so lovely. The steak was ok. I had scotch fillet for main. The sauce and side menus are available at extra cost, so skip the side menus and make sure that you leave a room for dessert.

Have waited awhile to go to Black Cow and it was worth the wait. Had Scallops for entrée and I knew I was eating Scallops they had a wonderful flavour. The main star was my Scotch Fillet, I asked for it Medium Rare and it was cooked beautifully, it didn't really need anything else. A fantastic wine list and with... More
