Delicious food, kind staff

The staff at this restaurant were above and beyond, keeping the restaurant open 15 minutes late when we came in on a late plane, and being very thoughtful with food recommendations and to other patrons as well. And the steak was unbelievable. One of the best meals ever.

I had a meat dish here in its natural jucies- so that speaks for itself. Service was impeccable. Decor unique and quiet. Would come back here just for the steak.

Food, service, wine and decor could not have been better. Could not recommend more highly. Suggest you book when you know your arrival date in Launceston, because you don't want to miss out on a great dining experience.

Very professional service and good menu, I'd you like steak. The steak was cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines. All this comes at a price, it is the most expensive steak I have ever eaten, but it was worth it.

We travel regularly and eat out often, Sydney, Hunter Valley etc. On our trip to Launceston last week we were delighted to find Black Cow Bistro. It well and truly lived up to the hype of previous reviewers. First impression WOW! The subtly-lit delightful interior design, even with maximum patronage there was no sense of overcrowding or unbearable noise. Our... More

At the end of a lovely short stay in Tasmania, we were lucky enough to get a table on a Sunday night at the Black Cow Bistro in Launceston. I had heard that the food was great and we were not disappointed. Kingfish sashimi to start and then a lovely porterhouse steak, washed down with a great Tasmanian Pinot Noir.... More

This was a date night dinner for my partner and I and was booked online from where we live in Chengdu. Everything about the meal was great. Impeccable service and is highly recommended. The only complaint was that the side dishes we ordered were quite large in portion and we were unable to finish them. And the vanilla crème brûlée........ More

After much talk about this restaurant being a place to go for a great steak and one of the best in Launceston, as a change from the amazing seafood dinners we had already experienced in Tasmania,we made a 7.30pm dinner booking. On arrival, we received a great welcome and ordered a martini, bottle of pinot noir, two steaks and some... More

Small bistro style restaurant which specialises in steak. While there are other non meat options on the menu, these are limited options. The steak is good as is the first class service.

The Black Cow serves great steaks which I am sure everyone will agree. However they also serve very good side dishes. The dish I enjoyed even more than my Porterhouse steak was the pork belly which reminded me of the Chinese roasted pork belly known in Cantonese as "siew yuk" - delicious.
