Awesome steak

You won't find a better steak in Launceston. Can be matched with some good in house reds. You pay for premium beef though. A bit too expensive to eat regularly. Cute bistro but to many seats for size of building. Feel jammed in. Steaks etc very good but side vegetables a bit hit and miss and over priced. Overall ok but most likely will not return.

This is a lovely little restaurant, but has some improvements to make. The good: - the food is delicious - he building they are in, and atmosphere, is wonderful The bad: - the wait staff, though friendly, are uncertain and inexperienced. They spend much of the night standing in the bar chatting to each other. Sometimes because there was not... More

Sincere apologies for the lack of response to your empty glass from our team, not a good result for anyone particularly with a beautiful dish needing that perfect wine to accompany! I know the team works hard to ensure everyone is taken care of and are usually a totally professional crew so I apologise on their behalf for letting the... More

My wife, sone and I ate here while on holidays and it was one of the highlight of the trip. The food, setting and service were all excellent. We all had steak and all were cooked perfectly and the wine match, which was recommended, were spot on. We have sent several others here to dine since our visit and all... More

We liked our steaks and sides but did not find our porterhouse and rib on the bone particularly special, particularly for the price.

Been there on Sunday night with my wife while we stayed in Launceston. It is popular around the city. It fully booked and we have to booked for the next day. Price is high about $80 per steak. And doesn't felt any better than steak in Brisbane. Maybe only can survive in this city rather than big major city. Beachside... More

When dining at the Black Cow it is important to put aside any thoughts of humanisation of cows, as per Gary Larson the famed cartoonist. This restaurant is about serious beef and they do it extremely well, as evidenced by a packed house on a cold winter's Tuesday in downtown Launceston. I had previously dined at Black Cow on a... This had to have been one of the best steaks I have ever eaten - the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to help us. I think we compared every meal we ate after that to our dinner there and nothing came close. My sons loved the whiskey and beers available and the wine was also really good.

This is a great little restaurant with a good ambience. Sunday night and it was quite busy when we arrived which should go someway to its quality. Crispy pork crackling starter wasn't particularly crispy, and the pork was quite fatty. Sirloin for main was a great piece of meat. Sides were a little small, but just enough.
