This was a great restaurant experience. On a very busy Tuesday night the waiters fulfilled their role with aplomb, displaying good knowledge and professionalism. We felt comfortable in the stylish dining room as we pondered the menu which, as the name suggests, is all about the prime local beef. A range of cuts and sizes were available for all appetites.... Dinner with two adults and a two year old. Toddler very well catered for - kids steak meal amazing - would have been happy to have that myself. Staff very attentive - I could not drink alcohol so a mocktail was made - delicious. Food rivaled that of melbourne - best meal I have had in years.

The service is excellent at this restaurant. Your glass will always be filled, and the staff are very attentive, but not in your face. We had steaks which were very nice, and a lovely Pinot Noir, followed by a delicious creme brûlée with a delicious Botrytis Riesling. Really good match, the food and wine worked very nicely together, and it... More

Our group got a bit of shock at first at the prices. We got hit hard at all levels, drinks, entree's, mains and deserts. BUT... really good service, really nice food, the ciabata bread was awesome, the steaks were great except one which was overcooked, but they fixed that graciously. If budget is no problem, great place, but if it's... More

Greeeeeat steaks, partner and I love to go here when we can afford to splurge. Usually valentines or birthdays. Wine list is a bit exxy but the attentitive staff and perfectly cooked steaks definitly make up for it, also beautiful desserts, very special! Book early as its popular for special occasions!

I admit to having had pre-conceived ideas of Black Cow before I ate there, and I almost wasn't going to write a review as I was in a bad mood before arriving, and I thought it wouldn't be fair. But the experience of dining there, the food and service, not only smashed my preconceptions, but completely lifted me out of... More

We had a great night out here. The food was superb and the wine list was great. A great experience. We started with the bread and the balsamic was the best we have tasted in a while. We went with the 450g rib eye on the bone which was cooked superbly like a good steak should be. We also ordered... More

We traveled to Launceston from Sydney for many reasons, one of them was for lunch at Black Cow. We would have flown to Launceston , just for lunch! This was perhaps the best beef and red wine meal I have ever enjoyed, anywhere. The slow roasted rump and a bottle of well priced Basket Press were the makings of a... More

From start to finish this meal was excellent. Great selection on the courses and the wine list was excellent. We both chose the steak (something of a given with the name and style of restaurant) and it has to be one of the best steaks that I have had while in Australia. The meat is very good quality and cooked... More
