Fantastic....

Firstly the staff were so good, friendly & attentive. Explained the menu perfectly & gave great advice & information on the food. Setting was lovely & great atmosphere. They really accommodated us considering we had a buggy & no booking, only asking us to come back an hour later. The food was... read more

Our party has eaten at the Black Cow several times over the years and found it consistently good. Our recent return to Launceston saw it in excellent form. The formula - of adopting a similar entree carte to sister restaurant Stillwater and following it with a beef-heavy set of main plate offerings has remained constant and - together with the... More

The tables were way too close together, Could hear everything and I mean every conversation with the surrounding diners! A bottle of sparkling mineral water $9. Costly dining, by the time you buy a steak, buy the sauce, buy your vegetables + buy heaven forbid some carbs, there goes $$$$

Beautiful food and service, could not fault it. Try the rib eye steak, best steak ever! The staff were very knowledgeable and professional.

This place is expensive, but the food matches what you pay for. Throughly enjoyed my meal of meat and potatoes. The meat was cooked as requested Raw-Medium and had woodiness flavour to it. I choose the wrong sauce with this dish - BBQ. Would have been better suited to the butter or something else. Note they don't use linen on... More

My daughter & I were lucky to get a last minute booking at Black Cow- so very glad we did as the meal was truly one of the best we have ever eaten. This deserves to be Launcestons #1 restaurant for food quality alone however the staff were also wonderful- helpful, pleasant & accomodating. The eye fillet steak was cooked... More

Ambience 5/5 Service 6/5 Food 6/5 Went here for dinner tonight, first meal in Tassie and it was simply flawless! The wait service was very attentive, and food was of top shelf quality, I would recommend this to anyone and there is a reason why they are rated number 1!

I must admit I had my doubts about this place when I first saw it from the outside (it looks like a 1970's style butcher shop) however once a I tried the 450g New York cut porterhouse, I was hooked. It was cooked to perfection. My wife had the 180g steak with the truffle sauce and she absolutely loved it.... More

Good service, steak was mediocre at most, and poorly prepared veggies. Good choice of wines though. Overall is overpriced.
