We select the best export quality beef available in the country. Our preference is for beef that is finished on grass as this provides meat with maximum flavor, just as nature intended. What we do differently at the Barn is that we age our beef on the premises for 8 weeks or longer. When you consider the work, the cost, the waste, is it really worthwhile to age beef for a long time? Most people and places say beef is aged when it is two weeks old. Like great wines that improve for 50 years, great beef gets sweeter, more tender and acquires a taste that cannot be duplicated except with proper aging.

Best rump steak I have that almost melted in my mouth. Fine dining service complemented with good wines at reasonable prices. Children menu includes ice cream for dessert. Will return for our next visit to Mount Gambier.

As we stayed in the accomodation , the receptionist asked if we would like a dinner reservation. On arrival at the restaurant, they didn't have our booking, but found us one of the last tables. Lucky for us. Generous serves for Entrees and Mains. Steaks perfectly cooked. A huge wine list ( quite limited by the glass though) we even... More

We stayed at the Barn on our road journey from Adelaide to Melbourne. The steak - both the cut and the way it was cooked was the best I've ever tasted. Service good, restaurant nice - and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended

YUM! I don't get to go to this place very often but I had the chance for my works Christmas show. I LOVED it, the food was top notch and had absolutely no complaints.

the service was the difference between a good night and a great night. After having only just sat down (not even a minute) we were asked for our order, we asked for another few minutes to look at the menu and got attitude. The steak was delicious, although a bit under cooked, although as it was such a good cut... More

We have experienced the superb service and fare at The Barn Visited this week for two evening meals and was suitably impressed by the food but on our first night was disappointed with the service provided by one particular staff member My wife made the mistake of asking for another table having been seated next to the kitchen door.
