A friend and I went for dinner last night. It's such a charming simple pub/restaurant, scrubbed floors and old pots with lovely plants and flowers. All the staff we talked to were smiley and friendly and efficient. We both had the special which was a Steak and Stilton pie .. it was delicious, crisp pastry filled with tender beef and... More

I was lucky enough to visit the wheel while they had their beer festival. Not only did they have some great bands playing music but also a really nice hog roast! There were over a dozen local beers on offer as well as a barbecue with local burgers, sausages, sardines and beautiful ox heart. Amazing food and a great atmosphere

How lucky am I that this is my local.......and because I go here so often is probably the reason why I haven't got around to reviewing it before now. The 'Shabby Chic' decor is relaxed and contemporay while keeping the pubs character and makes you feel relaxed and at home. The staff are genuinely friendly and nothing is too much... More

Our local pub and eatery. Superb food, excellent service and great atmosphere. A brilliant rotating selection of local ales and speciality ciders, as well as good wine and decent whiskies. The beer festival each year is excellent also. The pub is dog friendly and walker friendly too for those rambling through our lovely countryside.

Kids all out so last minute booking for my wife and I. Had heard great things about this local pub so we were really looking forward to it. Busy when we arrived which was a good sign. Menu is short but good alternatives. I had the octopus to start which was good but frankly not exceptional and the pork belly... More

Whenever we are in the area we head for The Wheel. Good food and a really friendly atmosphere. This time we ate in the paddock which is not elegant but very pleasant on a sunny afternoon. We had the lunch special menu which was good value. We both had good starters and I loved the risotto, though partner found the... More

We called in for lunch last Sunday - although we'd been before some years ago, this was our first visit since the management change. I chose a hake dish which was truly outstanding - hake with a very delicate orange and pink peppercorn sauce which complimented the fish perfectly. The vegetable side dish was varied and cooked to perfection, and... More
