Great food although maybe avoid on concert weekends

Don't get me wrong the food is quality and although it is called tapas it is actually small tasty meals that are split in 2 or 4 as required. We had a few service issues as the place was packed for a big concert on that day. Firstly our waitress was a trainee that didn't seem to have been trained... read more

Very late sharing this review, we went in January 2014 for one of my many birthday celebrations. The food was amazing, its a Australian twist on tapas. Doing Tapas is one of our favourite things so we get to try a little of everything. We were not disappointed at all. Cocktails were amazing, the wines of course were excellent, sunset... More

This is a follow up to my review Sept. 2014. We returned with 2 friends and shared the tapas stack (usually served for 2, but no problem for the staff this way), figs and blue cheese, and notably, the spatchcock. It was another glorious summer's day, humid and hot, but the restaurant's aspect and elevation was cooling and comfortable. It... More

This was out fourth visit to The Veranda and once again it ticks all the boxes. The location, siuated on top of Calais Estate in Pokolbin, with stunning views of the vineyard; the service, never fails to be not overlly attentive, helpful and friendly; the wine, great winelist showcasing some Hunter stunners; and the Food. Beautifully presented, absolutely delicious tapas.... More

Food is gorgeous euthanasia excellent selection of tapas - fresh and varied catering for all tastes. Wines are robust with a great selection from the Calaise vineyards. Just pity the wait staff don't have a better idea of the wine compositions. Overall a very lovely place to visit and well worth eating at

We had lunch here on Sunday 1st feb. Service was impeccable, friendly and informative. We ordered 5 dishes from the Tapas menu and dishes were served individually and evenly spaced to allow you to savour every mouthful. You didn't feel rushed and we walked out full and satisfied. Each dish was perfectly portioned for 2 and extremely rich in flavour.... More

DO NOT order the tapas tower, a tower of grease! After reading various good reviews we decided to have lunch here. It was the most disappointing and overrated restaurant in the Hunter Valley. We had the tapas tower costing $120 ($40 each). Complete waste of money. The bread was so hard, barely eatable and the dip was very bland. Chicken... More

Great tapas and service here. We sat on the verandah (recommended in good weather) with a great view over the estate. The wine selection is also very good, though it's Sydney prices. A very nice lunch

Being at the first floor the view of this restaurant is just amazing. We were lucky to be seated in the veranda overlooking the dam (you can call it a lake actually). Tapas type of food is best for sharing. They are so yummy I just want plate after plate.
