We had a very bad experience here. One of our steaks was ordered medium-rare and was served very well done. A prawn entre contained tainted prawns. The staff did not know how to handle negative feedback and were very rude. Don;t eat here.

We elected to have the two course meal for $50. This allows a choice of entree or dessert with the mains. Bread with tasty dipping sauces are complimentary in the offer. Our mains were perfectly cooked steaks, complemented by a wine recommended by our waitress, after the wine we initially selected was not available. Desserts were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed... We ordered And were then forgotten for half an hour. We were just about to leave, having had nothing but our water when the young MaitreD noticed. She made a good effort to correct, bringing the wine and bread, and entrees back on track. Food was generally pleasant and small steaks excellent. But nearly 40 minutes without food or wine... More

We were staying on location at the Mercure Resort and rang last minute to see if there were tables available, fortunately there was, so we headed to the restaurant for what we hoped was to be a nice meal. On arrival we were taken to our tables handed our menus and that was it...... We waited 20/25 mins before a... More

We have dined at the HVSH before and enjoyed it so much, we made a return visit. This time, one entree arrived and the chef forgot about the other. We were eating our entree when our steaks arrived and the steak was full of fatty gristle and unedible. I sent mine back via the waitress to find the chef had... More

we went as a group of six and sat together, there were other people in the restaurant, but nowhere near full. The setting was nice and it had a nice ambience, the staff were attentive. We all ordered different steaks which were bought to our table in a reasonable time One of our group ordered medium rare, which was served... More

The staff were excellent and performed well under difficult circumstances. The food was good, the breakfasts were good, with a good fruit selection though there were problems with the coffee machine. Lunch and dinner was good with great steaks. The bar was excellent with good wine selection and they make great cocktails.

HVSH serves a modest steak with the usual suspects, sides of potato, fries, vegetables, sauces etc.. The steaks are cooked just fine and are presented well. The staff are great and the ambience is warm and cosy.

Having booked this restaurant sight unseen.. I would like to share our experience booking for 16 guests... May was the month and the fire was lit in the lounge giving a great comfortable atmosphere.. We had drinks here mingling with other guests.... Then continued into the private dining room we had booked.. The room was large and there was a... More

Not my favourite place in the HV - they haven't yet mastered the art of serving food that is hot to a large group of 25. Good choice of wines though.
