Great Food. But ...

Our second visit to Racine's and once again, the food was divine. Cleverly constructed dishes full of flavour. However service wise, this was a big disappointment. The staff were clearly struggling and there was a general sense of disorganisation. We ordered the seven course option and only... read more

Racine is everywhere in Orange. It's the top rated restaurant, there's a bakery, and their food products are ubiquitous around the town. But as a restaurant experience, it's highly inconsistent - some food highlights but laughably poor service. It's really disappointing as a result. What's good? Lovely dining room, nice atmosphere, some buzz on a Saturday night. The food is... More

It was such a treat to visit this restaurant in the vines for lunch while we were in Orange. The vistas are gorgeous during the day, and the room, while large, is still able to convey an intimate atmosphere. We chose to go with the 3-course a'la carte menu, which allowed us to focus on the courses that are primarily... More

Booked at Racine's expecting a lot on the basis of some of the reviews here, but left disappointed. For a Saturday night, a hatted restaurant and the price, we expected more. The somellier was fabulous and very attentive - a real asset. Pity that the rest of the staff aren't up to his standard. Service was haphazard. Left sitting without... More

Party of 7 for dinner. We tried the 5 course degustation menu for $95. Also, the restaurant kindly produced gluten free and vegetarian options for two guests. The food, sourced from local produce, was mostly excellent. The trout was exceptional although the lamb dish did not work for me - overpowered by the lentils. Annoyingly, the staff did not seek... We have been here before and had a lovely time so we took some friends this time. We ordered the 7 course and said we would order wines as we go. Food was great but we were disappointed that the last course was a strong blue cheese dish that is extremely polarising. We politely asked if we could have any... More

We had a beautiful Sunday lunch at Racine. Decor is lovely ( apple green walls, polished floorboards & white linen) - dont understand the caravan park comparison in another review - service friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Probably best sourdough Ive eaten, We had the 3 course menu and were surprised and delighted that an amuse bouche... More

Don't go to Racine for a leisurely relaxed Dinner experience. We went for our wedding anniversary and had the 5 course degustation menu with matching wines. It must be designed for very little cooking or in the case of the raw ocean trout in tepid broth none, finishing with a tasteless polenta cake. Minimum amount of time given between each... More

Attempt at technique, totally lacking flavour and seasoning. Grey duck that smelt like dish washing liquid. Sadly the best thing was the apple sorbet palette cleanser. Ambience woeful - like sitting in a caravan park. Belinda

High quality degustation menu from local produce. Attentive staff and lovely surrounds. Recommend the duck and venison. Hard to choose from the delicious options. Beautifully presented.
