This cosy little pub on the banks of the Orwell river is the perfect place to have a halfway pit stop on a long countryside walk. This pub oozes atmosphere with its dark wooden panelling and bay windows hanging over the river. You can imagine a Hogarth scene being played out in front of you, it's that sort of place.... More

I have been to the Butt and Oyster a number of times over the past couple of years and I just love it. Beer barrels behind the bar, a snug for playing cards with the kids and a lovely nautical restaurant with wonderful views over the river orwell. If you are in the area in the morning pop in for... arrive by boat and you may well have to drop the anchor and use your tender to get in but it is well worth it. To work up an appetite go for a stroll through the woods and see all the houseboats there. Menu includes some excellent fish dishes and the beer was lovely on a hot day. There are... More

Just been to the Butt and Oyster down at Pin Mill for a Saturday lunch and must say that it was the best haddock and chips I have ever had there and on par with West Mersea Oyster Bar for freshness and taste. Also excellent selection of four Adnams beers and best Broadside for a long time! The setting is... More

A really lovely place and with lots of good walks around, it's great that they welcome dogs! A perfect setting in which to sit outside in the sun but also lovely and cosy inside on a windy, rainy day...it always seems to be busy at the weekend whatever the weather. The food is great too...on my last visit I had... More

Quite how this can happen is another thing. 5 mins later and the fish & chips arrived but the fish was undercooked. At this time... More

Went to the Butt and Oyster this morning for lunch. The views over the water were stunning, all of the staff were very helpful. The Adnams beer was very well kept in casks on the counter and delicious. I had the frito misto to eat. The best I have had... could have eaten it all over again. Super place, very... More
