Great food and atmosphere

Visited last evening for the first time - party of 9 for a birthday celebration. Nice atmospheric venue right on the banks of the Orwell - the incoming tide comes right up to the restaurant. Inside and outside seating. Very good menu and specials, principally seafood based but with other dishes... read more

I've visited this pub on 2 occasions now and love it. It's dog friendly, the food is excellent, never know what to have, there is always such a lovely selection. Beer is good, nice to see the kegs behind the bar. Staff are so friendly with smiles on their faces. A lovely old pub in a lovely location

Situated overlooking the river at Pin Mill, this is a traditionally furnished pub. Friendly staff, and a varied menu. The food was delicious and had a proper home cooked feel about it. Adnams ales, and for me a sirloin of beef roast - all perfectly cooked and served with a small jug of gravy per person and a ramekin of... More

We love a nice evening eating well cooked basic food, my nine year old daughter loves the fact we can take the dog. Always a good beer selection which is well kept to wash down supper or lunch, breakfast also now available.

This cosy little pub on the banks of the Orwell river is the perfect place to have a halfway pit stop on a long countryside walk. This pub oozes atmosphere with its dark wooden panelling and bay windows hanging over the river. You can imagine a Hogarth scene being played out in front of you, it's that sort of place.... More

I have been to the Butt and Oyster a number of times over the past couple of years and I just love it. Beer barrels behind the bar, a snug for playing cards with the kids and a lovely nautical restaurant with wonderful views over the river orwell. If you are in the area in the morning pop in for... arrive by boat and you may well have to drop the anchor and use your tender to get in but it is well worth it. To work up an appetite go for a stroll through the woods and see all the houseboats there. Menu includes some excellent fish dishes and the beer was lovely on a hot day. There are... More

Just been to the Butt and Oyster down at Pin Mill for a Saturday lunch and must say that it was the best haddock and chips I have ever had there and on par with West Mersea Oyster Bar for freshness and taste. Also excellent selection of four Adnams beers and best Broadside for a long time! The setting is... More
