Great fish and chips

This eating place is a little distance from the lake but it's worth the extra walk. We had the fish and chip combo at NZD24 and what excellent value it was. Fish chips and a soft drink for two. The fish was orange roughy and was delicious in its crispy batter. The chips were freshly fried and... read more

We visited this shop towards the evening, and were a little disappointed no cod was available to us, however the golden roughey was a good substitute and went down well. The place was popular and service was good and value was also very good considering what was on offer in town.

These local folks serve a simple fare, with no frills, but if you want good food at reasonable prices dished up for you, then this is the best place in town. I grew up in a fishing village and I know fish. Their fish is fresh and clean. No fishy smell. The owner are a hard working couple who take... More

Being a lover of fresh seafood I found this eat in or takeaway shop to very much at the top end where freshness and quality is concerned. The staff were polite and helpful. Highly recommend.

Sometimes one just feels like something a bit simpler--- if so go here! We had this place recommended from our B and B owner -- and it was well deserved. Beautiful grilled fish , great chips and salad. Worth a stop.

It looks like a fast food, but dishes proposed are really tasty, with a wide range of choices, and prices are really reasonable.

We want to experience the best fish and chips in New Zealand, so we ordered an assorted basket with chips. The fish was crispy and tasty, the mussels was cooked right but the chips could have stayed in the pan for a little while longer. The scallop balls should also have come with a warning, because I popped it in... More

Stopped here for lunch our first day in Te Anau and really enjoyed the food. Good selection on the menu and reasonably priced. They also seemed to stay open later than a few of the other cafes.

The food was tasty and the fish was fresh, the batter nice and crisp. There was plenty of chips and a reasonable salad and we didn't have to wait long. We ordered take away as there was quite basic amenities for dining in, though it was clean.

My son and I went off looking for a place to eat at 8 o'clock in the evening. The lady at the counter very patiently explained the varous types of fish to us and we chose Orange Roughy and one order of chips between two. My son had his battered and mine was grilled. We chose to eat in the... More
