Watch out for that hot exploding scallop balls

We want to experience the best fish and chips in New Zealand, so we ordered an assorted basket with chips. The fish was crispy and tasty, the mussels was cooked right but the chips could have stayed in the pan for a little while longer. The scallop balls should also have come with a warning... read more

Stopped here for lunch our first day in Te Anau and really enjoyed the food. Good selection on the menu and reasonably priced. They also seemed to stay open later than a few of the other cafes.

The food was tasty and the fish was fresh, the batter nice and crisp. There was plenty of chips and a reasonable salad and we didn't have to wait long. We ordered take away as there was quite basic amenities for dining in, though it was clean.

My son and I went off looking for a place to eat at 8 o'clock in the evening. The lady at the counter very patiently explained the varous types of fish to us and we chose Orange Roughy and one order of chips between two. My son had his battered and mine was grilled. We chose to eat in the... More

We recently stayed in Te Anau and were wanting some fish and chips for our dinner. We spent so long driving around looking that by the time we found Mainly Seafood they were in the process of closing. This was on the 21st December and the owners were closing to start their Christmas holidays. Even though they were almost ready... More

We had the Orange Roughy for dinner and it weird as it was still very warm and sunny at 8 pm. The mussels were fresh and tasty as well. The trout was fresh and good. No regrets and do try out!!

It was way below expectations so i dont have much to write. Even the most easy-cooked item like french fries worsened quality of the dish.

No dislikes at all. Wonderful service beautiful food, quite expensive but lovely. Try the magic mushrooms as an entree as they taste wonderful.

Sadly the blue cod wasn't available but the orange roughy was a good substitute. Very friendly people and good, fast service.

Dropped in here on our last night in Te Anau and after an exhausting day at Milford Sound. Lovely fish and chips, Orange Roughy for me, chicken nuggets for kids (not sure why they were so expensive $1.50 each), Venison Burger for Hubby. All was beautifully cooked and one of the best fish I ate in NZ. Nuggets were expensive... More
