We stopped here on the way back from Milford Sound. Waited 30 mins for a toasted sandwich and panini. When we politely asked we were barked at that it was coming soon. Locals at the table next door also asked after a 30 min waited and were told "it's a 30 min wait on food".. no apology or anything. Staff... More

No finesse. Reasonable choice. Huge portions (at least mine was). Did us very nicely for lunch which was essentially a refuelling stop. So, no complaints. It does what it says on the tin. It's a cafe!

The receptionist at our hotel recommended the Sandfly for the coffee, but we were most excited to see the lunch menu! I had the chicken noodles with ginger and soy -- absolutely the perfect, warming lunch for a pretty cold and rainy day. The portions are huge - both my boyfriend and I had to get takeaway boxes for our... More

This is a popular cafe & served a nice range of food. Indoor & out door seating & nice comfy sodas to relax on. The food was tasty & nicely presented & the staff coped well with the busy lunchtome crowd.

Not that there's much competition, but this was a great little place for breakfast in Te Anau. Good, healthy, well made food. We were impressed and would be back any time we're in Te Anau.

We stopped off here on the way to Milford Sound for lunch. The coffee was very good, and the sausage roll and savoury muffin were great.... however the feta and spinach slice was very greasy and heavy, but maybe we shouldn't have ordered this?! The staff could have been a little more cheerful, but I am only comparing it with... More

Both the coffee and food are superb. We had a blueberry muffin that was bursting with blueberries (more blueberries than muffin). The coffee is one of those ones that stays with you well after you have finished drinking it.

We sat outside under the shade of the trees and enjoyed good coffee and cake here with friendly service and atmosphere.

Good coffee in a remote place- what else could you want? The Sandfly Cafe looks trendy and makes good coffee and cakes. We did not have a meal there but other customers were enjoying breakfast. The service, like most places in NZ was friendly and efficient. Only problem was it was quite busy and the seating is mostly stools with... More

The food was really good - love the eggs benedict- but the service was correct (no smile). Still a good place to eat and we order some wraps (A bit expensive though) to take away which were good too. The outdoor seating is great even if it is near the main road.
