Good food

I'll get right to the point. The lasagna was some of the best I've had. Another person in our party shared my opinion on the lasagna dish. The other two enjoyed their meal as well. My only criticism would be that it is a formal setting, even a bit sterile. That is just my opinion. We were in NZ... read more

We went walking about the city, and found this Italian restaurant and decided to try it out. We were very happy we did! The owner served us, he is from Italy and has an amazing menu to choose from. The decor is very simple, there is outside dining then inside a large room with tables throughout. But the food is... More

I was a bit surprised to find that I was the only client in the restaurant. However, I wanted to eat Italian food so I stayed. The restaurant is soulless - playing mediocre Italian music did not help the ambience, and it was so cold. The menu is interesting and I chose the chicken dish with "seasonal vegetables". Disappointing to... More

I would like to congratulate Roberto and his staff on an excellent meal - once again. As a local I always take my out of town guests to La Dolce as I can always count on him to serve a delicious, averaged priced meal. I recently took an chef who was very impressed. Actually I don't need an excuse to... More

Very good service from Roberto who does a great job to make you feel welcome to his restaurant. The food was very tasty. Plenty of room at the tables. Well priced meals

Great Italian food and the house carafe of italian wine was fantastic. Even better was the rhubarb tart.

We were wanting a good pizza and also decided to get take out to relax in our motel with some good craft beer and wine we had bought. Heard this place was run by an Itailan and had a wood fired oven so we went for it. No disappointment! The pie was amazing with fresh rosemary, potato and prosciutto. Great... More

We dropped in here with our group of six. They didn't seem too busy and we were rushed to a table straight away. However, that is were we waited for half an hour before we were served, the waitress started to put out plates etc but didn't come back after only putting out three places. Waited when too long for... More

We were welcomed and seated quickly. It is obvious that this restaurant works on turn over and it felt quite soulless. The selection on the menu was good but this was the most expensive place we ate at during two weeks travelling the South Island. My meal was fine, with lots of elements (fish, salsa, risotto) but the serve was... More

Delicious! Superb food and authentic Italian staff. We were pleasantly surprised to find vegetarian and non-cheesey options for the vegan / lactose-intolerant amongst us. Grilled potatoes, grilled vegetables and pizza bread with rock salt and rosemary and a tasty vegetarian pasta. Great value kids’ meals! The $20 500ml carafe of Italian house wine was smooth and great value (rest assured... More
