Best meal we had in New Zealand

Roaring Meg's is up on the first floor of a fairly anonymous building but the moment you step into the restaurant it all changes into a cosy dining club. This is fine dining promised by the menu and delivered. Friendly and efficient service complement the food. It is where to eat in Queenstown

Such a nice meal, deserts are amazing and the staff even better! My boyfriend had the Hare and I had pork, so tasty. For entrees we had the pasta and tasting plater which was a complete delight. Would go back for sure.

We went to Roaring Megs as the wine of the same name is one of our favourites. The restaurant itself has an old fashioned charm. We tried the pork belly entree which was small, but delicious, then the confit shoulder of lamb with lamb cutlets which was delicious. My husband enjoyed his Hereford beef eye fillet. The biggest draw back... More

We wanted to have a New Zealand lamb dinner and just happened to stumble upon "Roaring Meg's". We wandered the town looking for good eats and I had read that Trip Advisor gave this restaurant a good review. So we went for it and coincidentally had the lamb confit and lamb rack that everyone else is raving about. Trying to... More

Meg's is an old fashioned restaurant but none the worse for that. The food is very good particularly the lamb. We were in Queenstown at a very busy time and Meg's struggled to cope. It took well over half an hour before we could give our order or request a drink. They were tied up by two tour groups. This... More

We visited here on our first night in Queenstown and came straight after opening as we did not have a reservation. It was a good job we cam early as the restaurant soon filled up! We both went for the Confit of Lamb Shoulder with Lamb Jus & Herb Crusted Canterbury Lamb Cutlets as we wanted to sample New Zealand... More

We love eating lamb and NZ is the best country for that. One of the traditional French preparations of lamb shoulder is slow cooking it over at least seven hours. From time to time I prepare it at home. Accordingly, we were anxious to test Chef Jeanneret's version. I must confess we were happily surprised by his award winning recipe.... More

We went here with our son who recommended it for the lamb, which we all had. Oh my God! The best lamb I have ever eaten & I've been to some really, really good restaurants that have served me with some fantastic lamb dishes. This place however takes it to a whole new level. I haven't got enough superlatives at... More

Very worthwhile finding this restaurant off the main streets, their trademark lamb dish has won a number of awards and we could see (and taste) why. Starters and desserts also very good. Room is a bit formal and lacks atmosphere but the food and excellent staff more than make up for this.

After being turned away from several full restaurant's in busy Queenstown, we came across the Roaring Meg. Almost lost amidst the noisy bars and restaurants, was this unique gem with its formal but relaxed atmosphere, staff who actually waited on us, refilling water glasses, and knowing what you had ordered without us having to remind them. And as for the... More
