Searching for the perfect NZ Lamb dish? Then look no further than Roaring Megs, this unique little restaurant will not disappoint! Established in 1981, Megs has continued to lead the field by being the only restaurant in the area to receive 15 consecutive NZ Beef & Lamb Gold plates and win both the recent Central Otago Lamb Dish of the Year and NZ Beef & Lamb Peoples Choice competitions. Great lamb

Meg's is an old fashioned restaurant but none the worse for that. The food is very good particularly the lamb. We were in Queenstown at a very busy time and Meg's struggled to cope. We visited here on our first night in Queenstown and came straight after opening as we did not have a reservation. It was a good job we cam early as the restaurant soon filled up! We both went for the Confit of Lamb Shoulder with Lamb Jus & Herb Crusted Canterbury Lamb Cutlets as we wanted to sample New Zealand... More

We love eating lamb and NZ is the best country for that. One of the traditional French preparations of lamb shoulder is slow cooking it over at least seven hours. From time to time I prepare it at home. Accordingly, we were anxious to test Chef Jeanneret's version. I must confess we were happily surprised by his award winning recipe.... More

We went here with our son who recommended it for the lamb, which we all had. Oh my God! The best lamb I have ever eaten & I've been to some really, really good restaurants that have served me with some fantastic lamb dishes. This place however takes it to a whole new level. I haven't got enough superlatives at... More

Very worthwhile finding this restaurant off the main streets, their trademark lamb dish has won a number of awards and we could see (and taste) why. Starters and desserts also very good. Room is a bit formal and lacks atmosphere but the food and excellent staff more than make up for this.

After being turned away from several full restaurant's in busy Queenstown, we came across the Roaring Meg. Almost lost amidst the noisy bars and restaurants, was this unique gem with its formal but relaxed atmosphere, staff who actually waited on us, refilling water glasses, and knowing what you had ordered without us having to remind them. And as for the... More

We had the lamp and it was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. Although rather small it was cosy and comfortable although no great views from second floor building.

We had a really good meal - probably the best lamb on our whole trip and even met Meg who was lovely but the restaurant itself simply did not have any atmosphere - it felt more like a cafe than restaurant and really let the food down. Bit of a shame really since this could have been an outstanding experience... More

We found several good restaurants in Queenstown, but this was definitely the best. Not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive either. Upstairs off the noisy street, it was aquiet and welcoming place with pleasant service. The venison, medium rare, was superb.
