My husband and I ate here tonight and were very pleased with the entire experience. The food was very good as was the service. Although the restaurant was pretty full, including two large groups, it wasn't noisy and we could easily hear each other. The pork terrine starter was very good as well as the duck main. I also liked... More

We ate here with our three teenaged children. The kids and I had beef Wellington for 4, and my partner had the lamb. All was spectacular. We had enough left over for another person, 5 people could easily share the beef Wellington as each serving for two comes with 4 pieces. The restaurant has a nice vibe, and the service... More

This was one of the best meals we had during our New Zealand tour. The setting and atmosphere are very pleasant - I always like to see plenty of room between the tables. The menu was very tempting and after some deliberation I decided to opt for the Veal Carpaccio with Ox Tongue and the Merino lamb rump on a... More

I had been anticipating visiting Josh Emmett's Fine dining restaurant in Queenstown for some time and finally arranged to visit with my husband. The decor was pleasant but not particularly mood inducing, the staff attentive and the food very nice. We didn't enjoy being seated right next to one of the few other tables seated when we arrived and moved... More

Lovely atmosphere at night for dinner. You feel like you are in the forest with the plants surrounding the outside of the restaurant. The bench seat was comfortable but the wooden seats weren't the best for sitting awhile to have dinner. Service was very good, attentive waitress. Food was delicious.

High priced medium quantity food and wine but we did enjoy what we ate. Goats cheese and honey mini profiteroles divine , venison and lamb rump very tasty. Very dark environment and toilets like the bkack hole. Pity they dont think about music volume as in a restaurant with a group of people it is impossible to have conversations with... More

My husband and I had a very good meal here. We tried the bluff oysters, the goat cheese profiteroles, the lamb shoulder for two and cinnamon oysters for dessert. The lamb just melted off the bone and was fabulous. I would highly recommend this dish. There was a nice selection on the wine list and the prices by the bottle... More

Try the $30 set lunch - it is a great way to try a variety of offerings at an affordable price! You can then afford a nice bottle from the wine list and get away with 5 star dining for $100!

We saved dinner at Rata for our last night in Queenstown, and were not disappointed. From the shared bluff oysters and bubbly to start, to the delicious mains and stunning desserts it was pretty much a perfect dining experience. Expensive, but totally worth it for a very special evening.
