Two of our dinners were not good. The lamb shank was tough and you needed a microscope to find the meat !.The duck had too much fat. On the good side, it gets a star for the excellent apple crumble. So only go there for the sweets.

I ate here last year on a flying visit to queenstown and can honestly say it is THE best steak I've ever eaten... I had the fillet steak with garlic prawns and it was cooked to perfection,I've recommended it to friends and will no doubt be back there whenever I'm in the area!

The missus and I stayed in Queenstown at the Novotel Lakeside from 29th March 2014 to 3rd April 2014 and then again on the 8th and 9th of April 2014. Monty's Bar was our second home. We always came back for the awesome customer service, cheap meals and old school music - they were playing our late 80's and early... More

Waitresses are always very friendly here and when we've eaten we've always enjoyed our meal. On slightly colder days we come in for the hotpot, although it can be a bit inconsistent as to who gets loads of filling and who doesn't, and the mash has been undercooked and lumpy on occasion but it's usually very good. Downside is the... More

Had the pork dinner which was very good and excellent value. Good vibrant pub with friendly service. Not fine dining but quite acceptable. Also had a free beer each by using vouchers from Queenstown map which was great!

Often ended up having a quick beer after my walks or treks either on top of Ben Lomond, or what ever I was doing during the day and needed to go back to Sofitel. The bar is located at the bottom of the stairs on your way back to town from the Condola and, next to the 2nd floor corridor... More

We were recommended to try Monty's by our coach driver. Not much to look at from outside, but great ambience inside. It was steak night so I had a $15 steak and my wife had fish and chips. We both enjoyed our meals very much and had no room for deserts. The staff were very good and were most attentive... More

We popped in on a Friday evening to watch a rugby match and eat a light dinner. We were surprised at how few people were watching the rugby so clearly this isn't where the locals go, but it meant we got a good view so nevermind. Staff were friendly and happy to wait for us to slowly make up our... More

This seems to be a popular place but there are just so many fantastic places to choose from in this town. I sat inside and the booth was dirty and smelled of stale beer. Tried the salmon fish cakes. They were deep fried.
