Only place around

Decent food, a little above average, but its the only game in town. I had pizza and a huge beer. My friend had a filo dough vegetable and cheese dish that she said was pretty good.

As other reviewers have said, this is the only game in town. The cafe in Milton lodge is really just snacks. Having said that it is a lot better than most in that situation. The menu makes an effort to provide interesting choice, and there is a good selection of wine and beers. The setting is more bar/canteen than restaurant... More

the only negative was the food. The Blue Cod meal was overcooked battered fish, too much batter and dry fish, couldn't taste the blue cod. I felt for a tourist stop it was a shame as an impression.

Our tour group had ordered ahead but for some reason the food took forever, about 45 minutes to be placed in front of us. The place was crowded and staffed by younger, apparently less experienced people. Once the food did show up, it was excellent. I recommend the lamb shank.

We had afternoon tea in the Blue Duck Cafe before our cruise. It is a tourist location in a remote part of of the country where all sorts of traveller pass through, so you don't expect a 5 star facility. We chose our beverage and other goodies and didn't wait long before the buzzer went of to collect the order.... More

Loved the location. The service. The friendly staff. The overall eating experience. Great Value for all.

We weren't expecting a whole lot because of some previous reviews, but it was the only show in town. We stopped here for breakfast. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, and the food (my wife had a poached egg on toast and bacon and I had the eggs benedict). Everything was wonderful!

My wife and I visited the Blue Duck during an overnight visit to Milford in March 2015. If you are looking for a white tablecloth restaurant, this place is not it. If you are looking for 5 star 3 course exquisite meals, this may not be your place either. And I can probably understand why some have varied opinions. But... More

The Blue Duck really is the only show in town. The other eating option is the Pio Pio cafe at Milford Sound Lodge which is possibly residents-only and is best avoided anyway. Lunch at the Blue Duck is more of a cafeteria-style service whereas it becomes a pub/bistro with table service in the evenings. With no competition it is very... More
