Only place around

Decent food, a little above average, but its the only game in town. I had pizza and a huge beer. My friend had a filo dough vegetable and cheese dish that she said was pretty good.

We weren't expecting a whole lot because of some previous reviews, but it was the only show in town. We stopped here for breakfast. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, and the food (my wife had a poached egg on toast and bacon and I had the eggs benedict). Everything was wonderful!

Had a capuccino and hot chocolate before our Milford sound tour. Was pretty good with good prompt service.

My wife and I visited the Blue Duck during an overnight visit to Milford in March 2015. If you are looking for a white tablecloth restaurant, this place is not it. If you are looking for 5 star 3 course exquisite meals, this may not be your place either. And I can probably understand why some have varied opinions. But... More

The Blue Duck really is the only show in town. The other eating option is the Pio Pio cafe at Milford Sound Lodge which is possibly residents-only and is best avoided anyway. Lunch at the Blue Duck is more of a cafeteria-style service whereas it becomes a pub/bistro with table service in the evenings. With no competition it is very... More

We stopped by the Blue Duck for lunch after our cruise (mainly because there's nowhere else to go). It was crowded and the staff wasn't the friendliest, and definitely not the fastest, but the food was decent.

They gave me a lot of food for my money and it was delicious and fresh cooked. Being the only restaurant in town, they were very busy and slow. I sat in the bar to get a seat. Good menu and good atmosphere.

We loved the Fat Duck burgers which needed a fork and knife but were really tasty. It is a nice bar scene. There are out door tables in the sun. There was cricket on the tv. A great place to relax after hiking the Kepler.
