A good Invercargill regular

In my home city quite often come to Sleights. It has good cold beer. It had a good lot of mains and some people get desserts. It can be a bit loud at times when full but usually is very good in terms of giving a good place to have a drink and a meal. The staff try hard. The... read more

Love this place. If you want good food, good service and well priced, this is the place to go. I always eat here when in town and the food and service is consistent and exceeds expectations.

We have been to Speights at both Dunedin and Ashburton (will be trying Timaru next) and enjoyed the beer, atmosphere and food, but something was seriously amiss at this particular restaurant when we visited for lunch. The menu was ok but when the food arrived, it was barely warm. while the plates were stone cold. Not ones to complain (we... More

I arrived in Invercargill after a long journey from Manapouri. Once I arrived I discovered this restaurant just a few blocks from my hotel. It was quite the surprise. Very clean inside with many tables but not feeling crowded. A large bar where the staff was busy, but prompt and polite. The menu had many choices, I chose a chicken... More

This is a good restaurant - and also one of the only place in town open on a Sunday night, but our dinner here was spoilt by the noise from the large TV screens in the bar downstairs (the restaurant is on a mezzanine). The food is excellent, and the fresh blue cod is excellent. I was with a group... More

Been to the "Ale House" several times while living in Invercargill. Staff have always been very helpful in choosing drinks and meals. We have never been disappointed with the meals we have had, the staff seem to know just what we would like. The company seem to have the same quality of staff and food at all of their establishments... More

We had the choice of 2 courses out of a 3-course menu and selected the entre and mains. The seafood chowder was very enjoyable. The garlic bread was good but the enormous serve was sufficient for 3 people. The fish of the day was good as was the steak with pepper sauce washed down with your choice of Speights beer.... More
