Good service, food average.

Quick, friendly service. Cheap meals. Right in the middle of Invercargill. We often go there, but were disappointed last time with the deep fried blue cod - it was overcooked and dry (and there wasn't much of it), so will try somewhere else next time we visit Invercargill. Could not have been a better night. The food was amazing, the service was very tentative and happy to help. Thank you all. Well be back.

This servers are really pleasant and the beer is outstanding. We had just finished a poor to marginal meal at Waxy's and decided to stop in for a beer. Its so nice to sit by the fire on a cold day..such a great environment.

A few weeks ago we travelled to the far south to enjoy the Bluff Oyster Festival, an event I thoroughly recommend. Afterwards we had dinner at Speights Ale House. We were welcomed in a friendly way, enjoyed a few bar snacks and then had the best pub meal we have ever had. I had a huge meal of mussels, chorizo... More

When you walk in the door you are greeted as special, nothing is an effort to the staff. Prompt attention, taken to your table with everything explained about the menu and more. Great service for drinks. Not rushed with your order. Once you do order your meal is very well presented and brought to you promptly. Plenty on the plate... More

Always find the best food and service at Speights, whatever city we visit. Invercargill lived up to our expectations, though there was a little disappointment when the maître d' required us to order our drinks at the bar then carry them upstairs ourselves before we were seated. However, the young waiter made up for this by his attention to detail... More
