Excellent selection of beers as expected with it being next to the brewery! Good menu of a cut above pub grub. Recommend the lamb.

our pre-booked group of 22 arrived on time. I was surprised to be advised by wait staff immediately upon arrival that drinks were not part of the table service !! we would need to go to the bar ourselves . SERIOUSLY !!?!! so lots of our group got back up out of our seats and trudged to the bar and... More

The meals which are offered as part of the tour package were typical pub grub and very large portions. The drunken rump was very nice and perfectly cooked however the chicken and cherry dish was horribly dried out. The manager and staff were very accepting of my complaint and offered a free drink which was better than some restaurants would... More

I read other recent TA recommendations and followed their advice. Not busy, so service was quick and efficient. As was to be expected the menu had an appropriate range of options for all tastes with realistic prices for "pub meals" We decided on "John Speight's Porter sausages with mash, onions" that turned out to have a copious amount of "almost... Had a lovely pub lunch of fish n chips. The fish was beautifully fresh and the chips cooked to crispy perfection. Served with a green salad and the requisite dipping dish of tartare sauce. Plenty of beer and wine to choose from too. Prices were reasonable and the service was very good.

We had made a book for 3 people on a not so busy nice and were seated upstairs in the far corner. Everything was good apart from the fact it was so freaking hot! Asked the waitress but nothing could be done.. Next time I'll requested for down stairs I think! 😛

Great atmosphere in a restaurant that's apparently a bit of an institution in Dunedin. Nice cosy place for a drink and the food's awesome, but the night we were there were a little let down by pretty average table service by the front-of-house staff. Would recommend to large groups as they appear to cater for these really well. Have any... More
