After Tour

After great tour of the old Brewery we were willing to go to the Ale House. My partner had the The Black Berry Chicken and I had the Drunken Steak both were severed with local sides to suit. All washed down with some great beer

We went having read the rave reviews.....I almost only gave two stars.....but my husband's blue cod was OK, not special, just OK. I ordered their Porter Sausages, with mash and supposedly caramelised onions (still white and crunchy, far from caramelised) plus of course rich onion gravy, approximately 1 tablespoonful that barely dribbled over one sausage. All in all a total... More

I was staying the night nearby, which is one of the reasons I chose the Speight's Alehouse. Plus I have been to one other Alehouse on the West Coast and had a good experience. Speight's track record is still holding strong. Great and friendly staff, and this was during a period where a group of maybe a dozen to 15... More

Came here does a work dinner and had an absolutely awesome time. All my workmates also really enjoyed it. Atmosphere is relaxed, food is great and not too pricey. Overall a lovely time once again. Thanks Speights Alehouse!

I ordered ribs and my husband ordered bangers and mash and it was enough to feed four or five people. The flavours were just beautiful and I would highly recommend eating here

The food was average at best. We had the steak, salmon, lamb, chicken and the food was not up to standard for the price. It was too salty and flavours were unbalanced. Service was unenthusiastic and slow. Environment was great but could not make up for the lacklustre food and service. Maybe a bad day for them considering the other... More

Homely, prepared with love meals. Good service. I love the interior of the restaurant, the friendliness of the waiters and waitresses. It's certainly a nice place to recharge oneself after a long day.

Speight's Alehouse was our chosen restaurant for our 40th wedding anniversary celebration. It was a very suitable location for this event with adequate room and welcoming staff who made room for our extra last minute guests. The meals were large and well received by our guests.
