I could not walk in, sit and peruse the menu before ordering. Had to stand at counter and order before I could sit down. This is not uncommon for Dunedin and is very uninviting. This town does not know what service means

I went to Nova with my friend and we both had dinner here. The food presentation and the restaurant atmosphere were pretty nice, however, taste-wise, the pork belly that we had was kind of tasteless. As for the desserts which are tiramisu, nova cone and the donuts, they are all too sweet! The donuts are horrible, they are WAY TOO... More

Seriously had most amazing salmon on beetroot, couscous and cottage cheese. With crispy skin and so moist. The Greek Salad was a joke though. It was a salsa salad with haloumi and bread on side. Laughed so hard when partner got it! Her face was pure disappointment.

I had an underwhelming gumbo entree which although full of seafood and beautifully presented was far too sweet and not spicy enough. It could have been great but the sweetness level was just really distracting. The Pork po boy roll which I had as a main was great, slaw and sauce with it were amazing. My son had the kids... More

Definitely try the FYO donuts. Hilarious fun and way way too sweet - definitely worth sharing (or expanding your waistline). Fantastic service, lovely staff.

My husband and I ordered what we thought was going to be a Greek Salad. For $19.60 NZ each, we got a few mouthfuls of salad, a piece of pita bread with hummus, and two small pieces of cheese bread. When we complained to the manager, he really didn't care. We asked for more salad and he said he couldn't... More

Had birthday brunch here late November. As always the staff were attentive, friendly and prompt. Food and selection did not let us down, great coffee to follow. Right in the middle of town leaves you in the heart of shopping, beautiful buildings, on Saturday morning the farmers market just down the road, Dunedins arts centre, what more could you want.

Nova used to be pretty good, never a place for a special meal, but not to bad. Sadly this is no longer true. The menu is dull, there are almost no gluten free options, few dairy free options and if you want a vegetarian version of either of the above you have not got a hope in ****. The wait... More

We come here fairly often and still Nova continues delivers a high standard of food excellent service and ticks all the boxes for us.We went there for New Years Eve and stayed on till close to midnight to hear the celebrations in the Octagon. Being very wet outside we prefered to linger and drink and eat. The staff attended to... More

Nova Cafe in the Octagon is always reliable, good food, good atmosphere and good service - love it! Nova has a bustling feel like a cafe in a busy big city but the service remains very good
