Great little coffee shop

It was early in the morning when most places were trying to clean up from the night before but this little cafe was open. Their service was great and their pot of tea very welcome. I enjoyed sitting outside on the pavement, loving the early morning sun in a cool Dunedin. Well worth a visit.

There wasn't much open last Monday and we defaulted to the Craic. What a charming find. Classic Irish pub surroundings and friendly waitress. I had eggs Benedict and it was served with a very generous portion of smoked salmon. A great place to eat on a wet Dunedin Day.

First night in New Zealand & we stumbled onto this charming pub with delicious food. Portions are large & filling. I had the seafood chowder & my husband had the fish & chips. We both loved our meals & were glad that we stopped. Great location & cozy atmosphere.

We have been to The Craic before and loved the ambience and surroundings. This tiny bar/restaurant in the Octagon is a joy to visit. The exposed bricks and warming fire iare a real pleasure. The dinner menu looked fantastic - especially the hare shanks but the only opportunity we had was for breakfast. The menu was good and the atmosphere... More

Went here for a change and although it was a Sunday night the place was not busy. As expected the menu was hearty and the surroundings where rustic with a nice fire as a focus point. The menu was what we expected for an Irish Pub but the portions were large and good value.Overall our meals were well cooked and... More

The Craic is a regular for me and I especially enjoy their soups. The French Onion soup I had this day was devine and probably my best soup dish I had had from the Craic. I congratulated the Chef and he even gave me the recipe! Not made from french onions but onions in a french style!!

We had a burger and a Steak Salad, both was awesome! The Steak was perfect medium and the salad was really fresh! Yummy!

We ventured off the cruise ship for brunch and found the best little place. The omelet said three eggs but looked much larger and was very tasty. Good coffee and friendly service. Overall a nice visit.

I am a 50 something that has travelled a fair bit and I can say, with my hand on my heart, that wherever I have been in the world I have never been to a dud Irish pub. This one is no exception. Great earthy food, a huge selection of beers (of course!!), extensive wine list and excellent staff which... More

We went looking for a restaurant on Waitangi Day and found most were closed. Walked by the Craic and there seemed to be lots of patrons and we were lucky enough to get the last table. Reasonable prices and a happy crowd. My wife ordered the pasta special and I had the pub pie (I always sample the pub pie... More
