Came here for drinks then dinner. Girl at the bar upstairs organised dinner booking for us cheerfully. The bar upstairs is full of character, lovely fire, nice places to sit and chill. Food downstairs was excellent.

What a pleasure to return to a restaurant and have an even more enjoyable meal than the Gr8 ones you have had there before. We went to Scotia tonight for my birthday, and I didn't want the meal to end. We were attended to in a happy respectful way by Rachel, who was a good thinking woman with some very... More

Loved that they were attentive to this single diner. Their wine list is excellent, and I loved their take on traditional Scottish fare. NOTHING WRONG with their whiskey bar upstairs, either! I was highly entertained by the antics of a three-some 2 tables away, and the lovely young pregnant couple 1 table away, and didn't feel neglected by the waitstaff.

After a long day perusing dunedin, me and the husband found this little gem just up the road from the octagon. Didn't have any of the food but the array of whisky selection that they had at their disposal was stunning. It's only a shame there isn't a place like this in auckland (at least that we know of!). The Scotia provides elegant couples dining with excellent seafood and Scottish influenced dishes. There is also an upstairs bar that stocks all of the Scotch blends and single malts one has ever heard of, and more. A table in front of an open fireplace on a late winter kind of evening was welcome, indeed.

A very cosy and warm friendly high quality restaurant. Great service, excellent food with great variety and the best whiskey bar in town is upstairs

Good hearth food, with a fine dining experience. Staff attentive, but not overly 'friendly', but we are here for the food..... Central Otago Hare, paired with a robust Pinot Noir, followed by a dram...... PERFECT

The menu didn’t look that flash when we booked but with the addition of some specials on the night we did have an interesting variety of courses. The food was tasty and satisfied, and we all enjoyed our chosen mains. The wine list was good also. The setting intimate with low lighting and plenty of atmosphere, and the restaurant is... More

My wife and I, along with son and partner, enjoyed a dinner here on our last night (a Friday) in Dunedin. As others have said, the atmosphere - especially on a cold winter night - was warm and cosy, much like my experiences in similar restaurants across Scotland over the years. We were seated at a bay window table, which... More

You 'would' by all means, read all other TripAdvisor comments on these following pages, make your own judgement, and decide if you feel like going to a 'boutique' fine dining in Dunedin and if not, I would highly suggest you to try at least, having a beer at the Bar, above Scotia Restaurant main Dining Room. The restaurant is easely... More
