Dunedin's best restaurant

Scotia in my opinion has the perfect ambience and an excellent menu with a strong Scottish flavour. Add to that the best selection of whiskies in New Zealand. Scotia is a place not to miss when you visit Dunedin.

Such a shame the restaurant has closed, but the bar is excellent. A great selection of beers and wines to offer options to one of the greatest whiskey selections to be found anywhere

We ate here recently courtesy of our son and daughter-in-law's Christmas present voucher. Scotia prides itself on its Scottishness, with particular attention to whiskys. But we don't drink whisky. We do eat food though, and Scotia's was very good. We weren't tempted by the 600gm steaks or the haggis, but both the young men at the next table had both... More

Have been here a few times now and always enjoy the food and experience. The staff are great, and very knowledgeable.

We booked a table at Scotia on Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with a fireside table and three courses over a bottle of wine. The menu is well written and full of tempting treats, especially if you like to try something gamey although there are vegetarian options too. But check on the daily specials because these were able to... More

Dinner for two and our table was in a lovely spot ... Service was impeccable all night and the food was excellent!! I enjoyed a very good Bourgignon and my partner the gurnard. Subtle flavors of all kinds abounded. We followed with desserts outstanding.. This is a classy restaurant and our visit was impossible to fault.. PS loved the stonecutter... More

We had a very pleasant dinner on a chilly winter night. We enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant and the service staff were excellent - without being over bearing. The menu choices are very good & cater for all tastes. A tip for future diners: leave room for dessert if you can - the macerated raspberries in whisky syrup... More

Quite an innovative menu, though not overly creative. We had four different plates: great lamb, OK Salmon but poor whitebait (tasteless) and average seafood (they do this betterin other places of the world) The atmosphere (family style formal sitting room) is great for a comfortable long dinner with good conversation
