Awesome food and wonderful ambience

My husband and I had a very pleasant dinner here and the meals were very good. The staff looked after us well but my only negative comment would be the restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere. We sat upstairs and there is a distinct lack of decoration, music and ambience which can no doubt be easily remedied.

We had been to this restaurant many times before its renovations and we were keen to see its new look. The atmosphere is great - restored villas complete with stained glass windows and wooden floors. We found he service very efficient and friendly and the food very good. We had a lovely evening and look forward to returning soon.

The food was delicious at this restaurant. We had a dish for two people and it was the best meal I had in the South Island of New Zealand. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The second time we visited the restaurant it was a little cool and it had a fire heating the outdoor seating area. The service... More

We were looking for a pleasant end to our Saturday night so searched the closing time on the web (11 pm ) before heading across town ,arriving at 10.30. The three staff standing behind the counter grumpily said we are closed because it was a quiet night and the coffee machine is off. I told them their website said the... More

Having read the review i was expecting a nice steak dinner but what i got was very average. ordered the fillet which arrived already cut open, that not how a fillet should be served, it was also seasoned strongly with herbs. The sides were average & the pepper sauce was very bland.

These two Victorian villas have been merged and redesigned to create a historical haven perfect and very popular for a weekend brunch, lunch or coffee and treats. Wonderful food and coffee are served indoors and out, only a stones throw from the old arts Centre which thankfully is being restored.

We went on a quiet Sunday night and found the standard of service to be very good with prompt attention and timely presentation of the dishes. We commenced by sharing an entree of tempura soft shell crab which was a dish we had not tried before, and found it to be very tasty. There were four portions to the plate.... More

We enjoyed our meal and thought that the place was lovely, but sadly there were very few diners the evening we were there which meant that there was no atmosphere. That said, we would recommend this restaurant (but we preferred Fiddlesticks).
