Food with a difference

A little out of the way if you are in central Christchurch but worth the effort. Small restaurant on the corner but not cramped with efficient service. I had a Whitebait entree which was superb - not battered so that you got the most of the delicate Whitebait flavour. My wife had the Scallops and... read more

Visited here last night with my family. We were given a choice of which table we would like to sit at which was great! The waitress was absolutely amazing giving us tips on which wine to choose and letting us know of the specials for the night. My pasta dish was tasty and so filling I had to get a... More

We had a delicious meal at the Bistro last night. We were attended to by very helpful staff, in a very relaxed (not overbearing) manner. The atmosphere, location and service all make it well worth dining in Sumner.

As residents of Sumner we are lucky enough to be able to stroll down to the Cornershop Bistro. Decided to have a late lunch on a Sunday. Sat inside with a good choice of tables available. Service was very good and friendly. We had a mix of lunch and brunch items, enjoyed them all, as well as dessert. Prices are... More

The Cornershop has just had it's 10 year anniversary and celebrated with an invitation only cocktail party and being parents we made the 'cut' True, it just missed out this year in being named one of the top 10 restaurants in Christchurch, but the consistent standards are still in evidence. Truckloads of ambience, very capable front staff, well matched wines... More

It always looked busy in here so that's why we thought we'd give it a go and the food was absolutely gorgeous, although the staff were a little young and seemed a little slower and less polished as at other places, not for their lack of trying thought!

Met friends at the Cornershop Bistro for brunch and had the most delicious spicy beans with scrambled eggs and chorizo - yum! Excellent food, excellent service and a great price. We are very keen to go back for dinner.

I love making the drive to Sumner on a weekend to brunch at the Cornershop and the latest visit on Sunday was another scrumptious affair. A couple of great flat whites, coddled eggs with smoked fish and a naughty bloody Mary started my Sunday off perfectly. Great place with attentive yet unobtrusive service!
