Amazing food - a MUST in Christchurch.

We'd such good reviews about this place, and we weren't disappointed. The food is absolutely outstanding. Entree sized meals so you can have more than one - ideal is 4 to 5 between two people. Tea leaf salad with nuts, lentils and sesame seeds is a must, shredded chicken salad, slow cooked lamb... read more

Said that I couldn't book for 13 people, when I rang up, but when I asked for 2 tables it was ok???? The service was very good. They knew we had a show to go to, so served us promptly. I usually enjoy trying different cuisines, but I didn't particularly like this food.

Went here on a Friday night. Ordered a few of the dishes. Food was great tasting. Got to the end to pay the bill and found out that it was a $6 pp rice charge which left a sour taste to the experience. $12 for a standard size dinner bowl of rice is a rip off. Apart from that everything... More

This was our first visit to Christchurch since 2010 (pre-second earthquake). In those old days we had dined three times at the Bodhi Tree at its old Colombo Street address and each of those meals had been outstanding. Post-quakes this Burmese favourite has re-opened in suburban Ilam (397 Ilam Road). The Bodhi Tree is fully licensed and has a modest... More

Now located in a suburban area around 5km outside of Christchurch Central, it is well worth the trip to The Bodhi Tree. This is the first time I have had Burmese food and it is interesting and unlike most Asian food. The tastes are generally subtle and you will leave satisfied and surprised, the service efficient and very friendly. Not... More

It turns out that Burmese cuisine is unlike anything I have ever tried and if the Bodhi Tree is anything to go by then it is well worth exploring further. We sampled a selection of dishes from the menu and they were all impeccable, the highlight was probably the tea salad but everything we ate was excellent. Add to that... More

The food was very good, lots of flavour and everything was fresh. We were a large group and enjoyed a taste of many of the dishes. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good selection of drinks plus it is BYO on wine. I'm not sure I quite get the decor/design of the place, it reminds me a little of a... More

Excellent fresh clean food with amazing tastes. My family & lots of friends who live in Chch all love dining at The Bodhi Tree & keep going back to experience the exotic flavours. We love the famous Tea Salad, Crumbly Fish, Blue Peas, Mushrooms, Prawns, Curry Beef, Chicken Pieces & my favourite Chicken Salad just to name a few. We... More

This restaurant came very highly regarded and we were not disappointed at all. We had a broad mix of dishes that we shared amongst two couples. The variety and treatment of every dish was just amazing; we enjoyed the whole experience! Make sure that you book well ahead as this is one of Christchurch's favourite restaurants. This was good value... More

We were extremely excited to visit this place, having eaten Burmese food only a few times before. Read some brilliant reviews about it on Tripadvisor & ended up going but the place turned out to be a disappointment. Their tea leaf salad was the only brilliant thing that we had. Apart from that, the rest of the dishes were not... More
