Visited with my husband one evening during the week. Nice decor, clean & good atmosphere. A mixture of families, couples & business people were eating. We ordered poppadoms & chutneys to start. Best poppadoms I've ever had! For mains we ordered the Handi Lamb & Chicken Vindaloo. Both very tasty, the lamb was very tender & both cooked to our... More

Work decided to our Xmas do here this year - we were a largish party so they tend to put out entrees on the table while the main course is buffet style, with rice and 3 different curries - food was okay and flavoursome - I tend to like their takeaways better though.

Dined here as a family group recently, the restaurant was not overly busy for peak time on a Saturday night. Staffing appeared minimal with only one waitress visible and in spite of the low number of tables occupied we had to make our own way to our table and had a long wait before orders were taken. We were not... More

This is becoming a regular dining place for us. Also very good for takeaways. Food is consistently of a high standard. Friendly helpful staff. Will definitely be returning very soon.

In the mid-1980s, 71 Ilam Road was converted from a suburban family home into a bank, the National Bank, university branch. When that moved to Riccarton Road, Tandoori Palace took over and has been an asset to the University district ever since. Parking is easy to find. We have always been abe to find a selection of quality dishes when... More

I would say Tandoori palace has the best Indian food in Christchurch. We went here for my husbands birthday and had the banquet - a great option and very reasonable at $28 per head. A little out of town for the travellers but in a beautiful area with lots of trees near the university. I definitely recommend it!

Had meals here quite often. My favorite is the Fish Masala. Tasty and always taste consistent. Sour, spicy, creamy, and tasty. Not the tastiest Indian meal I had in the Canterbury area (my favorite is A Pocket Full of Spices in Rangiora), but reliably consistent with the standard and they are happy to correct their mistakes if something goes wrong.
