Great atmosphere

Advertised as an English pub, but would class it as a Gastro pub. Lots of beers to choose from as they brew on site as well as getting other beers in. Food was great, had the Rib eye steak, kids had the burgers which were really good. Fab meal, worth the 15 min walk from the centre of town... read more

If you a casual quaffer that knows what they like, or a beer geek of the highest order, or just passing through with an interest in sampling the best cross-section of the finest beers & food New Zealand has to offer, then a trip to Christchurch would not be complete without a visit to Pomeroys In post-earthquake Christchurch, it is... Small concise menu but good options to choose from, I had the squid, and pulled pork sandwich both of which I would order again. The guys in the group all RAVED about the beer selection and I happily got through a glass or two of the delicious fruity rose.

Rude and pompous staff that seem more interested in talking to each other out the back than serving their customers. Tables were unclean and the toilets were filthy. Overpriced drinks. Regretted coming here within minutes of arriving.

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience. I am incredibly sorry that was how your night went with us especially as our staff are always so wonderful! I will be speaking with them all as pompous is certainly not a describing word I would like attached to our team. In regards to the... More

We were really excited to go to this place on our last night in New Zealand to sample some craft beers and have a final wine! Firstly it was SO loud we couldn't hear each other speak. Probably the worst part of this experience was when I ordered a $15.50 glass of Pinot noir, when I took my first sip... More

Hi Yolanda, Sounds like a terrible time that you had with us and I really sorry for this! I have spoken with the staff member concerned and he is mortified that that was how be came across. He assured me the bottle that was opened was new and that he offered you a replacement, I am sorry that this wasn't... More

Fabulous setting, with some great (though expensive) craft beer. We ate after the third visit and the food was terrible. I ordered a steak which was cold and when I complained, it was returned - microwaved!!! To be fair, I was given a new steak after complaining again, but the rest of my party had finished their meal by this... More

Hi Martin, Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your evening. I can assure you that no steak has been or will ever be microwaved in this pub. Our Head Chef has an incredibly high standard and when your steak was returned, it was put in the oven to be brought to temperature. Sadly, when replacing an... More

A really great historic pub where cricket fans crowd the tables and sip craft beers. There's a great selection of beers to choose from as well as a full bar if you're in the mood. Four Avenues Brewing Co is located behind the brewery and three of their beers are always featured in house, but there are 15 other regulars... More

On our last night in Christchurch, having come from the USA to visit family (in winter!), we went to Pomeroy's for our farewell celebration. We couldn't have chosen better. Despite the fact that they would not accept a reservation, and it was a moderately busy evening, we arrived early and were able to secure seating for our 12+ family/friends with... More

My wife and I were only in Christchurch for 2 nights. Being big into craft beer, I had to come here...so we chose come here the first night despite the semi-long (especially in the cold) walk. They appeared to have a good size beer selection, which I was briefly excited about. Unfortunately it was the night the All Blacks were... More
