Description: Review: We made our first and last visit to the Packingshed this weekend. On arrival one of the waitresses greeted us politely and was trying to find us a table when a young woman whom we assumed to be the duty manager, who had a most unfortunate attitude for someone in the hospitality trade, snapped “casuals outside”, speaking about us as though we weren’t there and making us feel most unwelcome and as though we were an inconvenience. We left immediately and won’t be back.

Was given a gift voucher for lunch, took our order and then no food for over an hour ...when it did arrive it was lukewarm and not particularly good. Couldn't recommend.

The Packingshed Cafe is not the easiest to find. Turn off the highway to Akaroa before TaiTapu where the sign says "Packingshed Cafe4km " but there is no sign at the Early Valley Road corner to direct you up there. Once we found the cafe we were treated to wonderful service and good wholesome cafe style food. The coffee was... More

Luv this place for their lovely organic food, mostly grown on the property or locally . Each time we have been we have enjoyed the food, the desserts (yumbo) the setting and the great friendly customer service. Prices are in the middle of good restaurant pricing so are affordable. Highly recommend.

I went with 5 friends for a brunch for one of the ladies birthdays and was so disappointed, especially as this place had been my suggestion. We all ordered the same, mushrooms , and while what we got was tasty and they were able to do gluten free, the serving size was very small for the cost. The setting was... More

The setting for this cafe is really very nice. The food is not however and the prices charged for very small meals are way over the top. Very disappointing and would not chose to visit again. The person in charge for the time we were there was not very friendly or helpful.

The waitress was diffident, the menu limited, the food was poor and the coffee - the coffee - not good.

Very disappointed!!! We made a booking for Easter Sunday and was told all was fine, only to find the restaurant closed when we got there after having travelled for 45 mins to get there for a special extended family Easter lunch with the children...and it wasn't just us turning up - there were 3 other families who had also booked... We recently dined at the Packingshed Cafe. A smallish place away up the end of Early Valley road, nestled in the hills, secluded and sheltered in a rustic orchard type setting yet only a few k's from town. We were part of a large group (130) provided with a served meal with menu options. I was amazed at the speed... More
